The Google Earth software application is a mapping software application. Of course, there is no doubt that the Google Earth software application is not an ordinary mapping software application. It can best be described as the most revolutionary mapping software application around. However, at the end of the day, the Google Earth software application is a mapping software application. What is the importance of the fact that the Google Earth software application is a mapping software application? Well, the reason why I am focusing on the fact that the Google Earth software application is a mapping software application is to point out the connection between the Google Earth software application and all mapping resources available on the internet today. Many a times, people fail to understand the full implications of using the Google Earth software application. Once the end user of the Google Earth software application begins using the Google Earth software application as a mapping software application, he or she will realize the immense amount of resources available on the internet. The resources can be, at least in theory, be used along with the Google Earth software application. Recently, I came across a network link that helped me determine the local weather conditions in any region of the world that I was viewing through the Google Earth software application.

One thing that must be appreciated with the Google Earth software application is that it is absolutely free. More often than not, software applications pretend to be free software applications and try to fleece money from the end user of the software applications through back door methods. If the software application does not use underhand methods to extort money from the end users, then the software applications would compel the end users to put up with advertisements in the software application whether the end user likes it or not. Most of the free software applications offered on the internet today are either paid for software applications or free software applications that are ad ware software applications. Ad ware software applications create security problems for the end users after they have been installed. Since the content of the advertisement keep changing, the end user is forced to permit the owner of the software application to send and receive data from the computer without any control on the nature of the information sent and received.

There are many agencies that are making good use of the Google Earth software application to provide better services to its consumers. One agency that is making fantastic use of the Google Earth software application is the Government. Government departments are using the Google Earth software application to make it easier for the average citizen to obtain and verify data related to various government departments. For example, a report by the government organization or the government department in charge of forests can provide satellite images and three dimensional images of the forest cover in the United States of America at a particular point of time by offering the same as a place mark in the Google Earth software application. Once this done, any and every concerned citizen need not make repeated attempts to cut through the red tape to get the information. All the end user has to do is surf on the web and download the Google Earth software application place mark put up by the department from the website of the government. Once this is done, the end user of the Google Earth software application will have access to authentic government data on forests at all times without any troubles whatsoever. Like forests, the government can cater to the requirements of all environment conscious citizens by posting information about water resources, deforestation, global warming, shrinking of glaciers and even the hole in the ozone hole using the Google Earth software application. Needless to say, watching the ozone hole over the earth is easier to understand than reading dry and dull reports and statistics regarding the same.

There is lot of potential for Government agencies to make good use of Google Earth!!!
