Create sub folders in the My Places folder to easily navigate Google Earth!!!

Monday, January 22nd, 2007

The Google Earth software application has been designed keeping the convenience of the end user in mind. All the features incorporated into the Google Earth software application have been done so to enhance the end user’s experience. As we all know, the My Places folder in the Google Earth software application is the folder where the end user can save any and every place he comes across the earth while using the Google Earth software application. However, the My Places folder is not a dump for all the favorite spots of the end users. Some end users of the Google Earth software application have hundreds of favorite spots, depending on the purpose for which the Google Earth software application is being used by them. If the My Places folder were to simply act as a storage point for the hundreds of favorite spots, the end user would not have found the feature as useful as he find it today. What the My Places folder, apart from acting as a complete storage point for the favorite places of the end user, does is that it enables the end user of the Google Earth software application sort the places into proper categories and sub divisions. How is this done?? Well, each and every end user of the Google Earth software application has the option of creating folders in the My Places folder. Each and every end user can create folders within the My Places folder just as any end user can create sub folders within the primary folder in the Windows Operating System.

Like all software applications, the toolbar of the Google Earth software application contains features that will be commonly used by the end users. The toolbar, more often than not, is the core of all activity of the end user of the Google Earth software application. A person who does not use the toolbar of the Google Earth software application will find it very difficult to use the software application in a very productive manner.

Functions assigned by Google Earth to the wheel and right button of the mouse!!!

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

Just as the Google Earth software application has assigned certain functions to the left button of the mouse, in the same way, the Google Earth software application has assigned certain functions to the right button and the wheel of the mouse as well. Some mouse devices have a third button instead of the wheel. While the functionality of the wheel and the third button may not be the same, the Google Earth software application treats both as the same.

Given below are the functions assigned to various buttons of the mouse device by the Google Earth software application.

Left button

The left button of the mouse can be used to alter the view of the Google Earth software application by either double clicking the left button on the globe or by keeping the left button of the mouse pressed while moving the mouse.

How to use the Google Earth software application?? Either use your mouse or use your keyboard!!!

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

There are two devices that can be used to use the Google Earth software application. The first is the mouse and the second is the keyboard. Of course, the Google Earth software application offers support to other devices like Joy pads and Joy sticks as well. However, these devices are not commonly used by most end users of the Google Earth software application. Most of the end users of the Google Earth software application make use of either the mouse or the keyboard to use the Google Earth software application.

The ‘Edit’ menu of Google Earth makes sure the end user experience is a productive one!!!

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

All menus of the Google Earth software application are ancillary to the File menu. All menus seek to enable the end user of the Google Earth software application achieve the goals stated in the File menu in a better and more efficient manner. The Edit menu, as in all other software applications, follows the File menu in the Google Earth software application. This menu, as the name suggests, contains all features that help the end user of the Google Earth software application edit its features. The Google Earth software application allows the end users create place marks that can be placed on the virtual globe to recognize any region, city, town, street, river or locality at a glance. The end user has the option of moving the place marks and other such additions from one part of the globe to another. For example, a wrongly placed place mark can be cut and then be pasted at the correct spot. That is the reason why the edit menu of the Google Earth software application offers the feature of cutting and pasting the place marks, polygons and directions drawn by the end user of the Google Earth software application on the virtual globe.

The ‘Delete’ and ‘Find’ option adds to the user friendliness of the Google Earth software application.

Apart from the cut, copy and paste options, the edit menu of the Google Earth software application offers many other options that can be used the end user of Google Earth software application to make use of the software application in a more productive manner.

Wanna send a particular spot seen on Google Earth to your friend?? Read ahead!!!

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

The ‘save places as’ option in the Google Earth software application is very useful if you want to save a particular spot or a particular view of the Google Earth software application in such a manner that the same can be shared with all your friends who use the Google Earth software application. As has been stressed earlier, the Google Earth software application is not to merely view the three dimensional globe. The Google Earth software application seeks to encourage all the end users to interact with each other to enhance the experience of using the Google Earth software application.

Send images of the earth viewed through Google Earth to all those who cannot install it on their computers!!!!

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

One of the biggest advantage of the Google Earth software application is that there is no need to describe a three dimensional virtual representation of the earth using words when the end users can be shown a three dimensional virtual representation of the earth. However, this also works as the biggest disadvantage of the Google Earth software application. It is only when any person sees the three dimensional virtual representation of the earth does one understand what it is all about. This creates a lot of problems in convincing others to use the Google Earth software application. A person who wants to know what the Google Earth software application is all about will find it very difficult to find out without actually using the Google Earth software application. While it would not be fair to criticize the Google Earth software application on this point, it certainly creates problems in introducing any individual to the Google Earth software application. The easiest way to introduce any person to the Google Earth software application is to download the Google Earth software application and install the same on his or her computer. Once the Google Earth software application is started and once the three dimensional virtual representation of the earth is visible, all words become superfluous.

We are not the company "Google" which is a registered trademark. We are a non affiliated 3rd party who is providing no cost tips, advice and troubleshooting for various software included in the "Google Software Pack".

I highly recommend the Google Software Pack. It comes with a lot of great software that is all FREE. You can also pick and choose which of the software products you want to download. You don't have to download them all. If you have a Mac or you don't want the Google Software Pack for some reason you can download it directly from the main site.
