SRTM: World Wind can display a dramatic view of the Earth at eye level by Combining LandSat 7 with Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM). Only by holding down right mouse button and dragging mouse downward, it will give you feeling like as if you are there and experiencing lively.

It was released in 2004 by NASA. Now the latest version (1.4) developed on February 14, 2007. It includes Moon, Mars, Venus, and Jupiter (with its four Galilean moons).

Virtual globe is 3 D software that represents Earth or some other planet. You can move freely in the virtual environment with the help of this software. You can view them in different angles and positions. You can now view the surfaces of earth in different views. It may be geographical feature or man made feature like road or building.
There are many online virtual globes available now. This is because higher resolution satellite and aerial imageries are freely accessible. Google earth is the first one to publish virtual globe. Some others include NASA world wind and Microsoft window live local virtual earth.
