Google has added an entire new layer in its software that displays the New York Times News in it. This is in connection with the region one is viewing with the geographic software. When you start Google Earth for the first time, My Places folder in Places panel is empty. My places folder is used to hold places that you wish to save. Every item that is located in my places folder is saved for the coming Google Earth sessions. If you do not save or move the items to My places folder then these items are not available in next Google Earth session even if you saved them in temporary places folder. You can use places panel to organize and save places that you frequently visit.

Creating an Overlay:

1] Position 3D viewer where you wish to place overlay image file. Position the viewer so that you are able to see the overlay. If the overlay is covering a large area then ensure that entire area is included in 3D viewer along with the margins to adjust the imagery
