Does NASA World Wind provide real time images?
The server sends imagery to its users by compressing it from gigabytes to many hundred megabytes. Even after the images are compressed to several hundred megabytes, the bandwidth needed for the server will be quite large. Even if this task is achieved somehow, the internet connection of most users is not that fast to update data every hour. However for MODIS, Global Clouds are frequently updated, hence they can be referred as real time images.
What is the problem with colors for new Landsat. Why isn't my area covered?

This can be due to several reasons. They are listed below.
Really the server may be down. In such a case you really can try again in 2 minutes.
Then the second reason which may be associated with this is that some firewall or proxy may be causing interference in your connection with NASA World Wind. Reconfiguring a port or hunting down and distractive help can help resolve this issue.
Check whether you have installed .NET and DirectX.
Some countries block access to world wind download servers and sites. In such a case, you can try finding a proxy. However, such cases have not yet been reported with NASA World Wind.

Is it possible to extract data from WorldWind and use it for other modeling and mapping applications?
Yes it is possible to do so. All data from World Wind is cached and installed in the folder below the Cache directory. The data set organizes it. It may happen that you are lucky enough to be reading about the WMS protocol and then interfacing with the servers, which World Wind connects to.
Is the imagery, which world wind provides copyrighted?

Some of the NASA World Wind features which you can use for this purpose are Blue Marble, Landsat, or USGS public domain data. You can even use them on websites even for commercial use.
Add-ons and plug ins
NASA World Wind is loaded with a number of Add-ons and plug-in. The add-ons are actually small extensions, which provide added functionality to NASA World Wind. A few of these are discussed under.
Point layers: these are simple XML files which display place marks i.e. points of interest in the form of icons.

The OneEarth add-on is an attempt for making use of public WMS servers to provide high-resolution imagery. There are many countries for which data is available.
You can also use the Virtual Earth plug as it has high resolution data for countries like United Kingdom, Australia, Italy, Japan, etc.
If high resolution imagery is not available for your country, you demand for releasing such data to politicians of your country.
Why are these crazy circles appearing on the maps?
The crazy circles are crop watered fields. For watering these fields, a technique called central pivot irrigation is used. Because fields start appearing like circles when looked from the sky.

I highly recommend the Google Software Pack. It comes with a lot of great software that is all FREE. You can also pick and choose which of the software products you want to download. You don't have to download them all. If you have a Mac or you don't want the Google Software Pack for some reason you can download it directly from the main site.
