If it not possible then you should check two things, you are not saving the location in non existing folder or you are not overwriting a locked file.

A simple way to send an image is from file menu. Select an option for e-mailing the image and then click on envelope icon in the toolbar. Now a window will get appear where you need to give your e-mail client, and recipients address.
