Bit by bit Google Earth is gaining ever-increasing usage and popularity. In this article, we will have a look at the some interesting stuff about placemarks in Google earth.

First, we will see, what is a placemark? In program Google earth, point locations are designated as a placemark. What you do if you intend to have some information about anything? The answer is simple. You use your mouse to point out the particular thing and click it to see more information relevant to it. However, there is simple and timesaving way to accomplish this task. When anyone clicks on a placemark, information relevant to it will be represented in a pop-up window. Isn’t it fabulous?

Each placemark possess some own characteristics and properties. You are able to edit the properties of placemark as per your need. Properties control several attributes like what information is needed to be represented, the format in which the placemark will be displayed etc.

A label represents a display symbol, longitude/ latitude co-ordinates etc. for particular placemark over the map. This will give you the information including the picture as well as text. You will get all this in a pop-up window. Moreover, it includes the coordinates for the center of the display map. It also represents several other properties, which will control your label style, color, size, and view angle.

Now, we will see how to create a placemark. You can simply accomplish this task in few easy steps. After creating a placemark, you are able to edit its coordinates to match with the location form where you obtained a picture. However, you have to make sure that program Google Earth is open at that instant. This is because, at this instance of time, the geographic location, which is represented is not able to mark the difference. Next, you have to click on the tool called as Add Placemark. This tool you will find as a yellow pushpin icon located near the top of the Google Earth window. This will add a yellow placemark, which is surrounded by a flashing yellow box at the center of the display window. This window will be titled as a Google Earth - New and it will be opened at that instance of time.

Here, in the Google Earth - New window, you have to replace the values in the Longitude and Latitude boxes. This will give you the values for the latitude and longitude for particularly desired picture location. This will let you to move the particular placemark to your specified coordinates. You will find this somewhere off the view.

For repositioning the entire view of the map display, into the desired placemark location, you have to click on the View tab. After this, click on the Reset button for repositioning the view. After this, you are able to use ‘zoom in’ or ‘zoom out’ capability in the zoom slider bar located on the top-right corner of the display window of Google Earth. All the functionalities and capabilities associated with placemark can be utilized to accomplish several tasks.
