Atlantis rumor not true Google Earth

‘Atlantis’ is one of the few subjects that make the people in the western countries gasp. It also makes marine scientists and history enthusiasts stare in wonder. Atlantis, in Greek meaning the ‘daughter of Atlas’ is a legendary island, which according to myths disappeared in the sea years ago. The inventor o the concept of Atlantis is Plato, and he predicted that Atlantis was in the island around 9600 B.C.

According to the allegory, Atlantis was a major navy power just as the UK was in the 20th century as the US is as of the 21st century. It is rumored that powerful rulers who conquered huge parts of Western Europe and North Africa ruled Atlantis. However there were very few listeners to Plato’s story and those it was a hotly debated topic even back them people finally concluded that Atlantis never really existed. Only during the early modern times has the concept of the mystical city been invigorated. Francis Bacon wrote a book in 1627 which mentions the Atlantis located on the western coast of America, he did not specify whether North or South America. In the middle of the late 19th century scholars, related Atlantis to the Mayan and Aztec culture.

The exact location of the legendary city is not known. According to popular legend and Plato Atlantis, as the name suggests lies in the Atlantic Ocean. However many people debate that the Atlantis might be positioned near the western cost of Africa. Furthermore there are theories that the Atlantis might be located in the Mediterranean Sea or even near Cuba. Atlantis also finds mention in various books and television serials among which the ‘Stargate Atlantis’ along with Disney’s animated film ‘Atlantis: the lost empire’ are very popular.

Google Earth is the market leader in the use of satellite imagery based software technology. Accessed by millions around the world, Google Earth provides its users a unique experience to browse through our entire planet. It had one day that a British aeronautical engineer was playing around with the new Google Earth 5.0, which features even underwater information when he noticed something queer off the coast of Africa, about 600 miles west of Canary Islands that remarkably resembled a pattern that looked much like a street grid. The British aeronautic engineer called the press and gave them the details of his story. He even gave them the co-ordinates of his ‘so called’ brilliant discovery. According to his Atlantis is on the co-ordinates of 31 15'15. 53N 24 15'30. 53W.

However Google unambiguously denied the report. They told the press that the grid pattern was not the city of Atlantis and that the whole panorama was nothing more than a rumor. It is true that many previously unknown discoveries have been made using Google Earth like the discovering of an immaculate forest deep inside Mozambique. The forest contained many species in the past unknown to man. Google Earth also enabled people to discover previous unknown ancient Roman villa. Google Earth has clarifies very unequivocally that the Atlantis saga was just a saga.
