Before installing Google Earth on your PC you should know about graphic card that you have installed on your computer. There is no need to open your computer. You can check this without shutting down your computer. Run ‘dxdiag’ from your computers command prompt and you will get all information about installed components on you computer. Select display tab and note down your graphic card details.

Q. How to locate point of interest on Google Earth?

To locate point of interest you have to enable various layers listed in layer panel on left side in Google Earth window. This layer panel consist different types of layers like 3D building, roads, hotels, etc. Simply enable these layers and you can view detailed map of any location on Google Earth.

Q. How to delete cache files of your Google Earth?

Deletion of cache memory is important to run Google Earth comfortably. To do this, first select ‘Server Log Out’ from file menu. You will get cache option from tool menu in Google Earth window. From here you can delete you cache files. However, if you are not able to log in to Google Earth, then first unhide all hidden files on your computer. Then search dbCache.dat and dbCache.dat.index files from Google Earth’s directly. Select these both files and move them to Recycle bin. After deleting these files, your Google Earth will run as it was running previously.

Q. Is it possible to remove trademark information in Google Earth?

You can not remove any trademark information that comes with Google Earth. This information must keep intact whenever you use Google Earth imagery. Since Google is brand logo for every Google Earth product, it is compulsory to display it on every Google Earth product.

Q. How to set KML or KMZ files to open on Google Earth?

It is important you should check each and every KML or KMZ file is set correctly with MIME before you try to post it on Google Earth. If these files are not set properly then these file may be opened as *.ZIP or *.txt files. Hence, you must sure that you have set proper MIME types to your files. If MIME files are showing error then to correct these errors, set file httpd.conf to application/vnd.google-Earth.kml+xml for KML files and application/vnd.google-Earth.kmz for KMZ files.

Q. How to imports GIS imagery files in Google Earth?

There are two ways, using which you can open GIS files in Google Earth. You can open these files directly from file menu. You can also open these GIS imagery files by dragging and dropping them directly in Google Earth imagery. Google Earth will open these files automatically. However, NAD83 projections won’t get open in Google Earth as Google Earth currently supports only to WGS84 projections datum projections.

Q. How to e-mail an imagery to other people?

You can e-mail Google Earth’s current view to your friends and to your group. These mailed Google Earth files will get open as an image if your friends are not using Google Earth. For a Google Earth user, mailing file format is KMZ that gets open directly in Google Earth.
