Different offerings of Google earth
Sometimes, people want to measure distance between two positions. It is a common misunderstanding that you cannot measure the distance within 3D viewer. However, you need to make few settings which are not default. First make sure you are viewing earth with top-down manner which is type U. Second thing you must be sure about that you have turned off the terrain to get best accuracy. Rest other calculations, you can make very easily by specifying two different points. There are lat or lon co-ordinates for measuring which does not consider elevation. This is particularly useful if you are traveling or new to some cities where you are not familiar with the roads. Using this feature of Google earth application you can select exact path to reach some place without any confusion.
You can even select Ruler option from Tools menu. When you click on this menu, ruler dialog box will appear. You may need to move dialog box to needed region on your web page. This won’t abstract the 3D viewer. There are different choices for shapes that you need to measure. You can draw line, polygon or even can draw circle. You can select any shape measure the distance of two regions, cities or places. Not only shape but you can also unit of measure. Google earth provide table that has number of different units of measurement. You can calculate perimeter, circumference or even radius of particular place. If you can select line shape to calculate distance between two places then click on the starting place and drag the mouse pointer end point or desired region. A line will be drawn between these two places.
Google earth gives ability to change the shape and its dimensions you have already selected. Sometimes you need to click more than once if you have selected circle to calculate distance. Regardless, wherever you click the image will be shown in 3D view. If you want to remove the shape then there is delete option on Places panel or just hit Backspace key. There is “clear all” button provided for you to remove all the measurements you have calculated on the map. This will enable you to see the map as before without any marks on it. Keep in mind that navigation with mouse is disabled while you are using measuring mode. If you are using earlier versions then it will only offer line option to calculate distance between two places on the globe.
Measuring is done with the path between two places. Users, who follow natural boundary, zoom in to take a closer look by adding more points and details. Polygon tool is especially used when both perimeter and area. There is separate tool developed for measuring distance by circle with PRO version of Google earth. Numbers of vectors are used as third-party GIS vector. Collection of related files, work together, to produce results. Typically these vectors are used to describe specific locations. User can import aerial imagery and information on map that will be properly projected.
