Google Earth’s databases

Google Earth is a satellite map program that includes great features of map services like directions and collection of features. By using this program, you are able to search for a business and location which you want. The functions of the program Google Earth are great use. Its ‘Fly to’ function helps users to search for any address, which Google Earth knows very well. This function works greatly if you know address of the place, which you would like to see.

The program Google Earth searches through its database and provides you relevant search results. Local search is another search function of Google Earth. It helps you to find businesses easily. Directions feature is another wonderful searching ability of the program Google Earth. It provides several tools, which you are able to utilize to measure distances. Depending on which Google Earth version user is using, he has access for many measuring tools. In all Google Earth versions, you can measure distance with a line. In Google Earth Pro, you can measure distance with polygon.

By using its ruler window, you are able to measure area, circumstance and length. First, you need to position images, which you want to measure within the 3-Dimensional viewer. Measuring is also calculated utilizing the lat/lon coordinates. Now you need to select Ruler from Tools menu. There appears new Ruler dialog box. Now you need to select the type of shape, which you want to measure with. Google Earth’s all versions are able to measure wither with path or line. The users of Google Earth pro can calculate distance using either polygon or circle.

Now you need to select the unit of measure for perimeter, radius and perimeter. Finally, you need to click in the 3-Dimensional viewer for setting the beginning point for our shape. You need to click on line continuously until the shape calculates the desired region. The beginning point of the shape is indicated by a red dot and yellow dot connects to it when you move your mouse. Every additional click adds a new line in the shape depending on the tool you select. For every shape, the complete units are defined in the dialog box of Ruler.

Once you define a path and shape in the 3-Dimensional viewer, you are able to change the dimensions, by clicking on a desired point. If you place the cursor on existing point, the cursor changes from drawing box. If you want to reposition the existing point, you need to click on the highlighted point. For circles, you have to click on the radius point and then drag it into new position. Always make sure you need to type the shape, which you want to make modifications in the selected Ruler dialog box. You are also able to clear all your measure shapes from the viewer just by clicking on a button called Clear All button from the Ruler box. All the versions of Google Earth support measuring with a path.

I highly recommend the Google Software Pack. It comes with a lot of great software that is all FREE. You can also pick and choose which of the software products you want to download. You don't have to download them all. If you have a Mac or you don't want the Google Software Pack for some reason you can download it directly from the main site.
