Google Earth allows every end user to be the master of his or her Google Earth experience!!!
The Google Earth software application may not be a perfect software application. Like all other software applications, the Google Earth software application may also have some flaws. However, there is one feature in the Google Earth software application that has to be unconditionally praised. The feature I am talking about is the fact that Google Earth offers so many choices to the end user of the software application. Unlike other software applications that seek to control the experience of the end users, the Google Earth software application is wise enough to realize that only the end user of the Google Earth software application has a right to determine his or her experience.
Common sense tells us that the Google Earth software application is very popular because it portrays a very realistic representation of the earth. Further, this realistic representation of the earth is offered in three dimensions. Nine out of ten end users of the Google Earth software application would want to keep the terrain layer activated in the Google Earth software application so that the natural elevation and the natural depression of the geographic features on earth can be viewed by the end user. However, the developers of the Google Earth software application understand that the end user may desire to avoid using the terrain layer feature for some reason beyond their comprehension. Photographs taken by satellites orbiting in space do not capture the three dimensional terrain of the earth. This information is added when the images are processed. Needless to say, the images captured from the satellite will be easier and quicker to load over the internet in Google Earth as compared to those images that include the three dimensional terrain.
Hence, if the end user of the Google Earth software application wants to use Google Earth and if the end user wants to get his or her work done in a short period of time, that is to say if the emphasis of the end user is on speed rather than on performance, he or she may can deactivate the three dimensional terrain feature to save time. That is the reason why, the terrain feature has been offered as a part of the layers feature in the Google Earth software application. Hence, if the end user of the Google Earth software applications desires so, he or she can run the Google Earth software application without running even a single layer. While the end user experience may not be as enjoyable as it would have been if the layers feature were activate, the developers of the Google Earth software application have not sought to impose this view on the end users.
If any end user of the Google Earth software application is of the opinion that the earth looks much better without activating the layers feature, then he or she is welcome to deactivate all layers. The fact that the Google Earth software application is a very versatile software application that can be modified by any and every end user to cater to his or her requirements is a major reason behind the popularity of the Google Earth software application.
