What more can I know about the 3 versions of Google earth?
There are basically 3 versions of Google earth. The first is the Google earth, the second one is the Google earth plus and the third one is the Google earth pro. Out of these 3 versions the Google earth and Google earth plus are for personal use, for fun and entertainment. The third version i.e. the Google earth pro is for the professional use, for people like architects, real estate agents etc. The image in all 3 versions is the same.
To view a place more clearly, you can zoom in and out on the Google earth. The results displayed are in 3 D. it is easy to layer more than one search. These results can be saved in folders and shared with others. You will find some extra features in Google earth plus. You can now have larger and clearer print out due to the high resolution images. Now 100 address points can be read from CSV files due to its data importing. You also have the GPS data importing with which you can read waypoints and tracks from GPS devices.
The Google earth pro on the other hand is for commercial and professional use. Obviously it also has features that will suit the professional requirements. You can measure any area with its area measurement tools. It is also possible to measure radii, acres, miles etc. With its movie maker tool you can make impressive movies and presentations in Google earth pro. In addition to this you also0 have high resolution printing, GIS data import premium printing etc.
The Directions tab fails to recognize an address. What can be done?
Sometimes when an address is typed in Google earth “Direction” or “Fly to”, it will not recognize the location. You can look for the location in Google maps. You may also see a variation of the location in “Did you mean….”. This can be copy pasted in "Fly To" or "Directions" field. If the address is not found inspite of that, it means the address is still not registered.
Do I need to have an active Internet connection to run Google earth?
You will get the best results if you are online. If there is no Internet connection then you can only view cached copies of the locations. If you want to have cached copies for later just log on to the Internet and then visit the desired location. Cached copies of the same are saved. Next time you can visit these pages even if they are offline. The streaming indicator will tell you whether the zoom in has taken place 100%. This means the entire data has been collected by Google earth.
Is Google earth the same as Google maps?
To some extent the function of Google earth and Google maps is the same. It will employ satellite images and share geographical information. But the scope of Google earth is much more than that of Google maps. The functionality of Google earth is more powerful and interactive.
