Google Earth and the Space Junk
Way back in January 2007, one of the satellites was destroyed by the owner of it which is the Chinese military. They did so just because they wanted to tell the rest of the world the skills that Chinese technology holds. The orbit of the Earth is getting messed up with debris and satellites all around it even after they are launched 50 years before. The decision to explode a satellite in space seems to be easy but it leads to many pieces of rocks entering the orbits of the Earth. Almost all the objects in the orbit keeps on moving around the Earth with a speed of 17,500 miles per hour. After the explosion, an organization namely, the European Space Agency felt concerned about the problems and the consequences leading to the explosion.
A Researcher by putting efforts has developed a tool for tracing the tracks of the orbits with the help of Google Earth. With the help of this track, well known as the orbit tracker and by taking the data about the path of objects, he created an idea of how the objects can be traced through Google Earth. With the images, a network link will be provided to look for the most recent image as the data will be updated after every 5 minutes.
Junk discovered in Space- Observing and comparing the Earth’s Orbits past fifty years with the recent times, we can surely make a conclusion that the condition in the space is critical. The funniest part is it can be taken either as archaeology or some garbage dump which may create serious problems.
Many initiatives have been taken up by the researchers of many nations concentrating on the question of how to resolve the issues related to recycling. Firstly everybody is confused about the debris and dump ownership and if the latter problem is solved, then the question is about recycling the dump. These major questions should be answered as soon as possible as there are 38 million pieces of garbage dumps and debris moving in the space.
The mortal fact is that Space is for everyone and it does not only exist for the national superpowers to initiate their military and scientific projects. Satellites used for telecommunication purposes and to observe our beautiful planet should exist and officials are putting in their best to join them for the mankind.
An initiative to recycle the junk- An initiative was taken up by an organization where they linked the database at a U.S. government-owned space observatory for the mechanical and programming equipments. The data thus derived has the most accurate data, which confirms that the space is about to get polluted. It does have some ways to search for the junk in the space. Fortunately, the report on the project has been published and viewed many times on the famous navigating tool Google Earth. On Google Earth the color of the satellite icon points out about the states of space objects and the flag indicates the ownership of the particular satellite.
