Google Earth modifies terrain view

Using Google Earth for three years would make people think that Google Earth is just another boring tool but again Google Earth brings something interesting for the users. Google earth has recently updated the terrain view to 3D terrain view. Google Earth is trying its hard to improve the quality of the image resolution along with the 3D terrain view. By using Google Earth tool, a user of a website Earth Swoop named Pietro30 created an incredible tour of the features of the terrain.

It lists the entire terrain features that Google Earth offers and guides you about the fantastic sights of the world. Now let us have a look at the Features in the terrain layer. Next to the viewing window is a Panoramio layer, turning it on will take you to the section where you can view photos of the various sights. One of the sights Ayer’s rock, which is also recognized by the native name ‘Uluru’, located in Australia, is interesting. After sometime Google updated the 3D terrain view for higher resolution and then made some efforts regarding the update of higher resolution for imagery of Uluru.

Regarding terrain, the best Google Earth has done is that it has made a 3D virtual globe platform not the 2D view, which was before shown in the earlier versions. Thus, when you are tilting the view, you are able to see the actual 3D content. Now looking at the minute details of the terrain can possible, you can imagine yourself standing on the terrain because of the clarity, and the resolutions update. The US space shuttle is the main source of all the contents represented by Google Earth. In countries like US, Canada, Switzerland and New Zealand and some parts of France, Google has added 3D terrain resolution, at the most place the resolution distance is about 10 meters, and the remarkable fact is that in the Virginia it is at 3 meter. Looks like Google Earth want to add most of the parts of the world to the 3D terrain data.

Google also announced terrain for the Google Maps, which helps you in looking maps in a better way. If you are an exploratory person hunting for hiking, mountain biking and stuffs like that, then 3D terrain is more than an update for you. They also eliminated the Hybrid button in the Satellite mode to show you the roads and labels coming in your way. Now you only need to add Labels option when a pop-up appears. Now anybody who is a geek of hilly areas would love this terrain layer. These terrain maps help a lot in highlighting the natural beauty of this Earth. Mountain peaks, valley and vegetation are the prime focus of these terrain maps.

Every small mountain and trails contain labels and are improved by subtle shadings making the feel of elevation changes better than some satellite images. With the more improved terrain and better resolution, some days later anyone will be able to spot people biking on the Andes.

I highly recommend the Google Software Pack. It comes with a lot of great software that is all FREE. You can also pick and choose which of the software products you want to download. You don't have to download them all. If you have a Mac or you don't want the Google Software Pack for some reason you can download it directly from the main site.
