Google Earth some KMLs

The infrared Sky

With this KML, you can view images from the IRIS i.e. Improved Reprocessing of the IRAS Survey. This survey is a detailed survey of the whole sky in the infrared region of the electromagnetic spectrum.

n this part of the electromagnetic spectrum, the emission of dust in our galaxy is quiet dominant. With this KML you can see how different the sky appears if we could have only been able to see infrared.

Sally Ride Science

With this KML, you can take a tour of the universe that lies beyond our own solar system. It is actually a preview of a series book called “Its Astronomical”, produced by Sally Ride Science. This project was led by Sally Ride, who is the first American female astronaut. Sally Ride Science is a KML that can encourage girls and boys interests in science, technology and math.

Sky animation videos

With this KML, you can view some videos from You Tube, which have been embedded into placemark descriptions for some locations in Google Sky. You just need to click on any placemark, which interests you and then, you can access the video for it, or read a brief description containing interesting information of the celestial features of that place.

Atlantic Basin storms

With this KML, you can know about the storms that were generated in the Atlantic basic between the years 1850 to 2005. There are several network link icons, which you can choose from. Each of these icons represents a specific period. Therefore, you can choose a particular icon and then choose the folder for the storm, in which you are interested.

You will be able to see the origin and end, and the path through which each of these storms traveled. You can also know get some additional information about the storm, for example the wind speed.

This KML is really interesting and it can be useful for various purposes like town planning, historical studies, meteorological studies, etc.

MWS Enhanced Radar Images

This is a KML, which will provide you weather overlays generated by the National Weather Services of United States. With this KML, you will be able to see an animation of the weather in Dallas, which is the Forth Worth metro area.

Environmental Toxicity Wayne County, Michigan

The Environmental Protection Agency collects Risk Screening Environmental Indicators data that shows toxicity in the environment. With this KML, you can view this data and thus know more about the toxicity in our environment.

The data contains information about the type and amount of chemicals that are emitted from the EPA regulated facilities. You can see the changes that take place in the amount of these chemicals, every 1 square mile in an animated form. This project covers the Wayne County in Michigan and the data from 1998 is available. If you want an appropriate perspective on the animation, you can double click on the placemark for Wayne County, Michigan and then use your navigation tools to explore.
