Google Mobile: An Overview
Google Earth as we know that is a free Web mapping service provided by Google since a decade empowering many map based services. After knowing about Google earth now lets look at its more expects. Can you even imagine the entire Google map that vast data in your mobile device? Seems impossible, but it’s true and is very practical that’s Google Mobile. Most java enabled (J2ME) mobile phones, Palm devices Palm OS 5, Blackberry devices haves the enhancements to load Google map in them know as Google mobile.
Before going in to briefing lets have a quick look on the features :
Real time traffic: We can easily locate the traffic, congestions in over 30 cities in US (like Chicago, Los Angeles, New York others) and so can plan our route as per so.
Detailed Direction: Your entire route is displayed on the map with directions (step by step)
Integrated Search results: We can have all local business locations, contact information under one heading on your map.
Easily Movable maps: These interactive maps let us to zoom in or out easily and move in all directions just on the moving your menu button.
Satellite Imagery: You can watch the places just as you are taking a flight over them. Believe it.
People strive to get information as new as it is. But, it’s sorry to say that they are not updated often. Both Google map on computer and mobile provides draggable maps, driving directions, local business listing and satellite imageries but, mobile haves an extra option of click to call, as it is designed for the users on the go.
No satellite imagery is of real time so at least from that aspect it’s secure. Now if you want to find a business place first move the map to area of interest (by panning or the move or area location command) then select FIND BUSINESS from the application menu and enter your search query. You can even go directly through recent searches option and save times. Submitted search or query will be then relevantly displayed.
The most exciting expect is the Satellite Viewing which means that you can view a satellite image of the direction you are driving or specific location. Just by selecting “Satellite” from the application menu you can zoom in and out to have a closer or broader aspect of view in any direction. You even have the facility to save your locations, directions. Select “Save as Favorite” and its done.
Real time traffic conditions in your area are displayed over the highway by color coded lines where, each color denotes that how fast the traffic is moving:
Green: More than 50 miles/hr.
Yellow: 25-50 miles/hr.
Red: Less than 25 mile/hr.
Gray: Denoting no data available
Proper use and following of the instructions and aid makes the routes and the seeking job lot easier. It seems today a story of tomorrow when people use to get lost of their ways in jungles, deserts and places get killed where theirs no signs of vegetation and civilization. Today trekkers always keep GPS mobile devices with them. Even the army is using the same to find their way in adverse conditions. Before a decade it was impossible to imagine that something like this could happen where we can plan our way by seeing it on our Mobile. Sounds funny?
