LayOut problems in Google Sketch Up

I am trying to drag a Scrapbook entity from the Scrapbooks dialog box. Why is it not happening?

Just check out if you have enabled the Select tool. If it is not enabled, then you won’t be able to drag any scrapbook entity in its dialog box. If you wish to enable the Select tool, just go to the Tools menu and then click on Select option. Once this is enabled try dragging the entities in the Scrapbooks dialog box.

My Scrapbook entity keeps stamping. Why is it so?

You can place a scrapbook entity in your LayOut document in two different ways. Either one entity can be placed or multiple ones can be stamped. If you want to place only one instance then you need to follow these steps. You need to click the mouse button and hold it over the Scrapbook entity. This will be in the Scrapbooks dialog box. You can move the mouse all over the LayOut document. To place the entry, you need to release the mouse button.

If you wish to stamp multiple instances just follow these steps. Click the mouse button once and then release it on the Scrapbook entity. Move the mouse all over the LayOut document. Click more number of times to place multiple entities. When you want to exit stamp mode just click the esc key.

The grouped entities are inferencing other entities. Why is it so?

Once the entities are grouped, it is not possible for the geometry in the group to access the inferencing system. The red and green access of the document will also be inferenced by the group.

Why does the inference not get locked if the Shift key is held down?

You won’t find any inference lock functionality in LayOut just as you find in Sketch up. The inferencing system in LayOut is user friendly. There is no need to lock an inference. If you zoom closer to your LayOut document, the inference sensitivity can be increased.

My SketchUp models look blocky in LayOut. What can be the reason?

If you are seeing content on LayOut it is as good as seeing content on a printed paper. The DPI or dots per inch can be set just like the printer. The more the DPI the less the images are blocky. If you want to change the DPI just follow these steps. In the File menu go to the left pane and click on paper. In the "DPI" drop-down list you can select your settings.

How can I unfill a shape I have drawn?

When you draw a shape in Sketch Up, it will be filled by default. You can change it from the Shape Style dialog box. There are settings like lines, colors, strokes etc. Say for example you want to unfill a circle. Follow these steps. First you need to select the Circle tool and then draw one on your document. Click on the Select tool and then on the circle. Then you need to click on the "Shape Style" dialog box. And then clear the Fill option.

I highly recommend the Google Software Pack. It comes with a lot of great software that is all FREE. You can also pick and choose which of the software products you want to download. You don't have to download them all. If you have a Mac or you don't want the Google Software Pack for some reason you can download it directly from the main site.
