The versatility of Google earth is very well known around the whole world. Right from travel planning to tour guide it can do everything for you. But if you want to make the best use of it, you should try and meet the minimum system requirements for it. First of all you must try and install a 2000 or Windows XP operating system on the PC. One must also see to it that the CPU speed is minimum 500 MHz or more. When you plan to buy yourself a computer just make sure it is Intel Pentium III processor if you plan to run Google earth on it.
Try to keep at least 200 MB free disc space on the computer’s hard disc, so that the cache size is small enough. The computers RAM (Random Access Memory) or System Memory should be minimum 128 MB. Check in whether you have the correct 3D graphic cards on your PC, as that is the way you can make the optimum use of Google earth. You system should also have a 3D capable video card. This card should have at least 16MB of Video RAM to be used. Just like the video card, which is very essential, so is the computer screen or monitor. Your computer should be able to render 32-bit images of minimum 1024X768 in size. And yes of course you need to also be online i.e. get an Internet connection on your computer. The best speed for this Internet connection is 128 kbps. The Internet may be cable or broad band.
If you are running your Google earth version on a computer, which does not support the above mentioned requirements, the resulting images might not be of a standard quality. And if you compromise on some of the good features and also the performance of these features what is the use of getting such a good tool on your machine. Along with the minimum system requirements mentioned above, if you have the ideal configurations on your system you will get amazing results from the Google earth. First of all there should be the Windows XP version installed on your machine. Google earth works best with Windows XP hence it is advised to have this version on your machine. It is definitely better than its previous counterparts. The user must go for a processor whose speed is at least 2.4GHz or more. It is better to run Google earth on a Pentium IV computer for best performance. It is recommended that the RAM should be 512 MB i.e. at least four times than that mentioned in minimum system requirements. The hard disc space should now be 2 GB. Now there won’t be any problem downloading more number of pages to be stored as cached copies. You can have as many as you can. The ideal graphic card should be 32MB Video RAM.
