Using layers in Google earth

The layers feature of Google earth helps you to get different kinds of information points of geographic interest and by selection these information points you can display these points on your viewing area. This includes map, road, building data and points of interests.

By making use of this layer data feature, you can do various wonderful things such as displaying and saving points of interest in your viewing area. For this, only you have to follow simple steps which are given below.

First, you should adjust the three-dimension viewer for encompassing the area, which you wish to investigate. If you are interested to search out all the schools in a specific city then you have to adjust the viewer according to that to view the whole city. You are also able to do this just by zooming out.

Now you must double click on the folder of layers to enlarge it. Again, in layers folder by enlarging other folders you can view sub-categories of points of interests.

Now from the list you have to select points of interests.

Saving points of interests: When you locate a point of interest, which you wish to save then right click on it. After this from the pop-up menu, you have to select, the option like save to may places. Now right click and from the pop-up menu select copy and then paste it on the target folder from places panel.

Displaying 3D buildings: Google earth has the power to display photo-realistic 3D buildings in lots of areas and for viewing; these building you have to follow certain methods, which are given below

First, you should check the 3D buildings folder from layers panel and after this, you have to turn on 3D buildings

Now place the viewer within a reasonable altitude on a major city like San Francisco. After this you sill observe that some 3D buildings started appearing.

When you zoom in you will get more details. By making use of navigation controls, you can get the excellent view of buildings

By clicking on these buildings, you will get the additional information

For hiding any building, only you have to right click it and then select the option called hide building

Viewing layer sub categories: There are some points of interests, which work as a folder, which includes categories of data. These are pointed by an icon so by clicking on this icon you can view the sub categories for the item. For instance, the dinning layer includes sub categories of all kinds of dining. You can turn on this
