Shakespeare says “what is in the name?” but Google Earth says everything is in the name. How it is? So don’t ask what is in the name again. Let’s come and see. The featured content in Google earth has loads of information that is made available to you. The data that is available is enhanced by multimedia. You can get data about different regions located all over the planet.

The entire imagery is given by Google Earth. This enables you to get easy access to satellite imagery which has a high degree of resolution. Along with that, you can view a huge range of data about these images. This data is gathered from a number of places. There is an animation video available that helps you to know how to use this particular layer.

There are a number of overlays that have been included in this Featured Content. Some of them have been given below. The Featured Content includes United Nations Environmental Programs. This consists of a number of images that portray the environmental degradation occurring all over the globe.

There are about hundred areas that have been covered by these images. Another Featured content that is available on Google Earth is the Discovery Networks World Tour. By using this you can go on a virtual tour of all the famous landmarks all over the planet. You can view a number of cities.

In addition to that you can even view the natural wonders of the world using Google Earth. The Featured Content in Google Earth gives you the opportunity to pay a visit to the Jane Goodall Institute. By visiting the Jane Goodall Institute you can come in contact with Flirt and some other chimpanzees residing in the Gombe preserve.

You can keep yourself updated about the daily happenings at the institute. The Institute has a Geo blog available on Google Earth. You can access it to get all the information you need. The Featured Content allows you to easily access National Geographic. Through this you can view various articles and pictures. There are web cams and much more available from various corners of the world.

You can view all this through the Featured content. Another feature is Tracks 4 Africa. This is a map that has been generated by the community. This map covers a certain part of Africa. In addition to the map, you get a number of photographs and other important and useful information regarding different places.

In order to get information about the fifty three independent nations of Africa you can use Spotlight on Africa. This featured content gives you interesting details and other information about Africa. Google Earth also has the Historical Maps by Rumsey. These maps include various maps of the world ranging from the year sixteen hundred and eighty to eighteen hundred and ninety two.

This even includes an African Map from the year seventeen hundred and eighty seven. You have access to the European Space Agency. This gives you imagery via satellite of a number of picturesque places all over the globe. There is a Geographic Web Layer of Google Earth that is available and that has the data contributed by a number of communities all over the globe.
