Gogle Earth Faqs

Why are images blurry?

Detailed flyover images by default are not enabled due to load time and file size considerations. You will find 2 sets of flyover images that differ in quality. Enable the set and that will make sense to your system configuration.

Why does the message “Invalid Image Format” appears when I am trying to load flyover image?

This image “Invalid Image format” is somewhat misleading. Google Earth checks your system resources. It also looks at the space that is available in its memory cache and then determines whether it is possible to show the image. In case your settings are set, in such a way, that Google Earth simply cannot load the information then it reports that you are loading an image that has an “Invalid Image Format”. To fix this problem ensure that your pc meets all system requirements.

How to change memory cache settings that are in Google Earth?

You will be able to see flyover photos in Google Earth of Bread loaf campus if you modify memory cache settings in Google Earth client applications. Before you adjust the settings, ensure that system satisfies requirements listed above:

(1)Open Google Earth applications. (2) Click tools menu in the Google Earth application. (3) Under tools menu, click on options. Click cache tab in Google Earth options dialog. Set memory cache size to half of your system memory. Set disk cache size to 1024 MB. See the sections for determining how much space is available in the hard disk. Click on clear memory cache button. Click on clear disk cache button. Click on apply settings Click on OK.

The screen size should be 1280 x 1024 and should have 32 bit true color.

Why does the screen flicker on loading a flyover image?

You must have installed old version of Google Earth application or older release of version 4. Access the official site from where you can download Google Earth. Here you will obtain latest release Version 4 of Google earth application.

Which version of Google Earth is suggested for use?

I highly recommend the Google Software Pack. It comes with a lot of great software that is all FREE. You can also pick and choose which of the software products you want to download. You don't have to download them all. If you have a Mac or you don't want the Google Software Pack for some reason you can download it directly from the main site.
