The features of Live Search Maps of Microsoft Virtual Earth:
This is basically a web mapping service provided by as a part of Microsoft’s Windows Live online applications services which is powered by Microsoft’s “Virtual Earth”.
Street Maps:
Detailed Street maps are available for many cities worldwide. Amazingly, the features like hospitals, stadiums, Metro stations and other facilities also appear on the map. The users can also see the directions of roads and streets. Search available is of a wide spectrum type which can search for people, location or street, a business category, or even search for people.
For some countries like South Africa and South Korea data on arterial roads and streets but you must note that the local roads and streets. Since search is available, you can find any road, local street or alleys. In several global cities the details of map, data is available in developing countries like Rio de Janeiro, Istanbul, Mexico city. However such cities details of the maps are not available to the perfection when one moves outward from the city center.
Satellite images: The satellite images are available in this application too. The most prominent feature of this application is that you can see people walking in the streets even cars can be seen. Note that the quality of the pictures differs not based on names of the cities but by default. For images the users can use both the satellite images with the “Hybrid” option to observe.
List of countries and cities which have detailed satellite imagery are United States, Canada with the exception of the rural areas and the outback’s, United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Japan, India
Bird’s eye view: The bird’s eye view is the aerial photography, which can be seen with the help of four perspectives. The signs which are directly present on the top of the buildings, Advertisements, pedestrians and other related objects clearly visible in the bird’s eye views.
3D Maps:
these features enable you to see the maps in 3 dimensional views. To add to the realistic effect you can fly around, rotate and tilt. In addition, all the buildings are textured with the help of using images from different angle. To install 3D maps you have to install a plug-in then you have to enable the “3D” option, which is present in the Virtual Earth option. Note that rotating and tilting applications are used only in the feature of 3D maps. Announcement was made by Microsoft that it is possible to locate and navigate the 3D environment with the help of Xbox 360 or the other game controller, which is available. The numbers of cities, which can be viewed in the in three dimensions, are United States, United Kingdom and Canada. The cities, which can’t be viewed in totality but some buildings in these cities, can be viewed in three dimensional view. For example, the Coliseum in Rome and other famous places present on a global scale. The following list which is displayed at the bottom contains the names of the cities which are displayed in three dimensional.
United States: Redmond, Beaverton, Portland, Yonkers, Cheektowaga, Niagara, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Detroit, Phoenix, Huston, Baltimore, Atlanta, Denver, Dallas-Fort Worth, Buffalo, New York City, Austin, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Joliet, Naperville, Cape, Tampa, Savannah, Holly wood and Miami.
Canada: Calgary, Levis-St Romuald, Niagara, Aurora
