Drawing on the maps 2

1 Drawing a path

e) Adding the collections in the path

For this choose the collection that you want from the “Edit item properties” dialog box. After choosing the proper collection, that you want you can enter any one of the following options.

Title: For this, you can enter a name for the collection. However, remember that the name should not be more than 100 characters.

Notes: If you choose this option, you can add some information about the item. For this, the word limit is 1000 characters.

Photo URL: you can also add some photos for the item. However even though you cannot add them directly on the maps, you can provide a link for this. For example, you can add a pushpin at the point where your house is located. When anybody would click on it, he would be taken to the page containing the photos of your house.

URL for more info: As the above link for photos, you can also place a link that takes the viewer to the page containing more information about that location. For example for a hotel, you can place a link that would take the viewers to the official website of that hotel.

After adding the proper items and the above-mentioned options you click “Save”. This saves the changes and makes them to come into effect.

2 marking an area on the maps

This too is a very useful option. You can mark the area of interest in which you want to show something. For example, you can mark the area that comes under the city limits, etc.

a)For this open the Live Search Maps and then go to the collections.

b)From there choose Open your collections. This would open the collections editor.

c)from the collections editor choose the area drawing tool. This would activate the area-drawing tool.

d) After this, you can click at the point from where you want to start marking the area. Then appropriately mark other point so that the area, which you want to mark, should lie between them. These points can be marked by clicking on them.

You can mark as many points stick necessary for correctly describing the area.

e) When you finish drawing the area, you just double click at the starting point and the live search maps would deactivate the area-drawing tool.

f) After this, go to the dialog box named “Edit item properties”. From the options, you can select the collection that you wish to add in the area you marked. For these collections, you can add one of the following options.

Title: by choose this option you can add a name for the area. The limit for this name is that is should not exceed 100 characters.

Notes: In this option, you can add some information about that area. The word limit for this information is 1000 characters.

URL for Photos: In this, you can add the URL which takes the viewer to a page containing the photos of that area.

I highly recommend the Google Software Pack. It comes with a lot of great software that is all FREE. You can also pick and choose which of the software products you want to download. You don't have to download them all. If you have a Mac or you don't want the Google Software Pack for some reason you can download it directly from the main site.
