Live Search Maps and editing the colors

Once you draw the path or mark the area on he maps you can edit their color later. Sometimes you may feel the need of marking some area of interest on the maps. This area may contain some special features for which you want to separate the area from other part of the map. The Live Search Maps provides you the ability to do so. The procedure for this is as given bellow.

When you activate the ‘area marking tool’ click on the point on the maps from where you want that the area should begin. Then, by holding down the mouse’s key drag the Explorer pointer, to cover as much area, as you want. When, you do this, click on ‘additional points’. When you complete the selection of the area that you wanted, double click on the point from where you began marking the area. This will close the marking tool. Then after this, you can add the additional features to this area, which you have marked. For this go to the Edit items properties dialog box. Then, from the options that are available for the additional features select the proper collection, which you want to apply to the marked area. Then you can enter any of the following things in the map.

Title- The title gives the name of the area and thus tells the viewers which area they are viewing. Alternatively, you can also give a title that tells the specialty of the area that you have marked. Nevertheless, remember that that while giving the title you should not let it go beyond 100 characters.

Notes- In these notes, provide any relevant information that will provide the viewers useful information about the area. This improves the usability of the maps and the area that you have marked. For this, there is a limit of maximum of 1000 characters.

Photo URL- A photo of the area or one containing the important feature of that area would be a great enhancement in the usability of the map. The Live Search Maps provides you the facility for adding a URL that provides the photos of that area. You can add this URL in the form of a pushpin on a point on the maps itself.

URL containing additional information for that area- Sometimes the viewers may find a need of more information that you have provided in the notes. Therefore, you can also add a link for the URL that could provide this additional information to the viewers. Similar to the photo URL you should ad this URL directly at the point on the map showing the specific location. When you mark the correct area and provide the additional features to the marked area, click ‘save’. This will complete the procedure and thus will create map that contains the features that you had selected.

Editing the color of the path or the area- Once you create the path or the area on the maps, you can edit the features of these at any point of time. For this open, the Live Search Maps and the map itself select a line or an area. This should be the one for which you want to do the editing. Then from the collections editor select the ‘color tool’ or the ‘fill color tool’. Then you will get the options for the colors. You can select the one you want. This will change the color of the line or the area.

You don't have to download them all. If you have a Mac or you don't want the Google Software Pack for some reason you can download it directly from the main site.
