Making your own collections and manage them

The ‘Live Search Maps’ also provide the users, the facility of making their own collections and manage them. In these collections, you can add map pushpins items, or search results, which you find by the user of the net and then you want to store them for after use. You can use the collections editor for finding the information and you can store it in the collections editor. However, for storing them you do not need to do anything. Live Search Maps will automatically store your data.

You can add any data which you search through the Live Search Maps and get in the results.

Opening a collection

a) For opening a collection you will have to go to the ‘Live search map’s’ website. For this you may require your ‘windows Live ID’.

b) On the toolbar, select the collections and then from the options select the ‘Open collections’.

b) Then from the lists of the collections select the proper one. If you do not find the collection in list, see in the ‘Your collections’.

Making a collection

For this, in the ‘Open your collections’, select the option of ‘New collection’. If there is no ‘New collection’, among the options, you should select the ‘Your collections’. From there, you can open a new collection.

Then give a proper name to the collection. You can also add some notes or tags. If you add them, it will give the idea of what the collection contains without even opening it.

You can choose whether you want to show this collection to other users or not. If you want to show this collection to the other users i.e. share it with other people, you can choose the option of ‘Turn on sharing’ check box. This will make it available to the other people. In addition to this you can also choose different options for the sharing. Click on these options which ever you want to select. You can select more than one option.

Then click ‘Save’, to save your selections and also making them to come into effect.

Adding items in the collections

a)In the search box from the Live Search Maps website, enter the keywords for the search and then, click ‘Search’.

b)Then go to the ‘Add to collection’ from the search results that you want to add. This is located in the results pane.

c)Then choose the collection in which you want to add the item you have chosen. Then after this, click ‘Save’.

Alternatively, for the selection of the items you can directly click on them on the maps and then select the ‘Add a pushpin’.

Modifying a collection

In the open your collections just click on whichever collection you want to change. You can make the following changes in the collections.

You can edit, delete, add new ones, or rearrange the information in the collections editor.

Moreover you can also change the name or, the notes for the collections. You can do so with the collections for the sharing or search settings. For this you will need to click Actions and then choose to Show properties.

You can choose the options for making your collections available for sharing or making it searchable through the internet.

When you choose properly the changes that you want to make, you should click ‘Save’.
