Maps and directions
Maps provide you the directions to travel correctly and quickly. Just enter the place name in the map with the city and state name. Also enter the pin code. Then in the directions column enter the place name, city and state. It is not compulsory that you must know all the details. Just enter what you know. Then in directions, enter the starting and ending location.
There are yet advanced options there. You can select shortest distance, shortest time etc. You can instruct to avoid highways, tolls or seasonally closed roads. Then click “Get directions”. The map will provide the shortest and fastest possible route within seconds.
Map quest provides some additional features. You can view the map for longitude and latitude coordinates either with degrees or with decimal values. You must specify whether the place is in US or Canada or Outside US or Canada. If it is outside US and Canada the map will provide you a list of Country names so that you can select one from the list.
You can see the world Atlas in map quest. You can select the continent from the list in your left side of from the pull down list in the right side. You can also select the continent directly by clicking on the map. You can see the countries, territories, oceans and Polar Regions in a continent separately. Map quest will provide you a new map every time you select something from continent to city.
You can get maps and directions from Yahoo maps. You can browse the maps by category like community service, Entertainment, Restaurants and so on. Yahoo is somewhat better than Live maps to some extent especially in local search. You can get driving directions also. But the disadvantage here is you can not get directions outside US and Canada in Yahoo maps.
Msn maps and directions provide you an easy way to locate a place. You just select a country from the list provided. Also enter the state and city name along with pin code. You can search for any location around the world easily with MSN maps and directions. You can search for an airport, restaurant, theatre or anything you like.
You can do your search in two ways. Either you can type the entire address in the text boxes provided or you can paste the address in the paste Address tab. This is more useful when you want to copy an address from any document or email. You can view the terrain information by selecting the world Atlas option here.
Here you have more quick links like Traffic maps, City guides, and yellow pages and so on. You can use the traffic maps to get traffic details. The time required to reach a place will be specified by considering the type of vehicle you are using. For example if it is a new car it will take less time than old cars.
