Marking points of interest on the maps

You cannot only view maps using live search maps but you can also edit them. Marking your own points of interest on them is a very useful thing. Doing so is very easy. You can mark a point by placing a pushpin on the map. The procedure for doing so is given below.

Creating pushpin on the map

a)Access live search maps.

b)Browse the maps and go to the point that shows your desired place. Take the mouse pointer at that exact spot and right click on it.

c)From the options choose “Add a pushpin”.

d)Then go to the Edit item properties dialog box and from there choose the pushpin you want to add to the map.

e)You can enter one of the following to the pushpin.

Title: The title i.e. name should not be more than 100 characters.

Notes: In notes you can add anything, however they should not be more than 1000 characters.

Photo URL:You can add a link for a photo which you want to related this pushpin. For example if you want to create a pushpin for your house you can add a link of photograph of your house.

URL for more info: It will be really helpful to the viewers of your pushpin if they are able to get more information about the place you have marked. For this purpose you can add a URL taking the user to a website providing them additional information. For example if you place a pushpin for a local zoo, you can URL for the website of this zoo.

f)On adding what you want to the pushpin, click save.

Note: An alternate method to add a pushpin to the map is by using Add a pushpin button in the collections editor. Just click on this button and then click directly on the exact location on the map.

Once you add a pushpin it will appear on the maps provided by live search maps. You can also, edit it at anytime. The procedure for doing so is given below.

Modifying a pushpin.

a)Take the cursor on the pushpin and then go to Edit Properties.

b)Then you can edit or add any of the following.

Title: Not more than 100 characters.

Notes: A description for the place.

Photo URL:You can add a link to photos of that place.

URL for further information: A link to a website providing more information.

c)After doing the desired changes click “Save”.

Notes: You can change the location of a pushpin very easily. Just point to it with the mouse pointer, right click on it, and then from the options choose “Move”. Then click on a new desired location.

If you want to link your pushpin with an online file, be very sure that you know the correct and precise web address. You should also include prefixes like http:// or www.

Further if the pushpin you have created is a part of a public collection, remember that others will not be able to view the images stored on your computer.
