Satellite and Aerial imagery in live maps
Satellite imagery is a collection of photographs of earth or other planet taken with the help of artificial satellite. Microsoft provides satellite imagery. Users can zoom in until they see the vehicles in the city photographs or sometimes even people who appear as a small black dot in the picture.
The clarity of the image depends upon the nature of the city. The user can view the satellite images with map details by using Hybrid option. This facility is available to US, Canada, UK, Germany, Italy, Japan and India. The resolution of the imagery also depends on the altitude of the satellite orbit and the instruments used for taking pictures.
This facility provided by Microsoft enables you to get turn to turn driving directions. The traffic areas are clearly marked as red, yellow and green. This will help you to avoid congested traffic areas and thereby avoid delays. You can do a local business search with the help of satellite aerial imagery. You will be updated with the related business areas regularly. Even though Google map is also doing local business search and driving suggestions, Live maps are faster.
Satellite view will also provide the route map to reach a particular destination. You just type the place where you start from and the place of destination. Then you can get the shortest and fastest possible routes in Live maps. So you are relieved from the bitter experience of waiting in a traffic signal or traffic delays.
It is possible to view airport in major cities in aerial view. You can also view a football stadium. Many historic places and landmarks are selected to be viewed in aerial imagery.
Satellite aerial imagery gives you the view of any building or location. It works well with Bird’s eye view and 3 D mapping. Hence it assures viewing any building from all the four directions. Live map is not a mere map but it combines the features of maps, driving directions, local search, 3 D view and satellite aerial view. You can share the search information through MSN messenger. For this Microsoft collaborates with MSN that assures multiple users can view and interact map at the same time. You can print the maps with the help of pushpins in collection and you can get link to mobiles through short message service.
The traffic information provided in maps is accompanied by satellite aerial imagery so that the user can view the route clearly before he starts traveling. It also provides the possible delays like road construction in progress in that route, accidents etc. There is a separate traffic and accident map here that lets you to view the aerial image of the location.
In fact satellite aerial imagery has its own demerits also. Since population in earth is increasing day by day, it is difficult to cover the entire population. If the map covers a large area then it will not give high resolution. Moreover, the digital image processing is a time consuming work. That is transforming each and every pixel in raw data to complete image is difficult.[tag]Microsoft, Virtual Earth, live maps, features of live maps, satellite aerial view in live maps, [tag]
