Searching for business, person, location or collection, in Bing maps

There is a search box in Bing Maps, which you can use to search for businesses, people, locations, collections, etc.

All you need to do is as follows:

When you open Bing Maps - type in the search box, what you want to search. You can enter the following things.

a)If you want to search for a particular business, you can enter the name of the business, its category and its location.

b)If you are searching for a collection, you can enter the name of the collection and its category.

c)If you are searching for a location, you can enter the full address of that location, its partial address, and neighborhood and or nearby landmarks. You can also enter the latitude and longitude coordinates.

d)Similarly, if you are searching for a particular person, you can enter his name and his location.

Entering such additional information, when searching for anything, narrows down the search and therefore gives better results. While entering anything in the search box, use commas to separate lines in the address. You can also enter the name of the country in which, the thing you are searching is located.

When you have entered what you are searching for, look below the search box. There you will find the options to choose. The options available are whether you want to search for business, locations, persons, or collections.

When you do all these things, click the Search icon to start your search.

Then you will get the results, which may contain varying number of items that match your search terms. If you want to know more about the items in the search results, you can move your mouse on the number corresponding to a particular item in which you are interested. This will open up a mini detail window. In this window, you can see the additional information about the result. You can also visit the detail page for such items by clicking it in this window.

Bing Maps covers most parts of earth and therefore if you search for anything here, there is a possibility that you may get results from all over the world. Therefore, it is always better to limit your search.

When you limit your search, you may also get other collections in the list of results.

You do not always need to search for collections. You can alternatively view the public collections for a particular area on the map.

Ideally, when you search for anything through Bing Maps, you get the results for the area that is visible on your screen.

If you want to narrow down your search or want to expand it, you can zoom in or out of the area so that more area is visible on your screen, and then hit the search button once more.

If you want to change the type of search results, just choose the type you want under the search box, and then click the search button once more.

I highly recommend the Google Software Pack. It comes with a lot of great software that is all FREE. You can also pick and choose which of the software products you want to download. You don't have to download them all. If you have a Mac or you don't want the Google Software Pack for some reason you can download it directly from the main site.
