The MSN Virtual Earth
MSN has recently launched it for viewing the world. It provides the users various facilities like zooming at a particular location etc. it feature the useful tools like the ‘what’ and ‘where’ and the ‘scratch pad’ the ‘permalink’ etc. The images that it provides also contain other relevant data about the places e.g. the driving directions, etc.
The Microsoft Corporation has recently released a new application, that is, the Virtual Earth. This application provides you the facility for the viewing of the world, through the maps and the aerial photographs.
Recently the Microsoft intended, to trying to launch an application that would provide the satellite images of the world. The MSN Virtual Earth provides you the facility of zooming in at a particular point, and again zooming out for viewing a greater area conveniently. You can search through the images by, dragging the image and then taking the pointer to the location that you want to zoom in.
Like the MSN’s local search, it also provides the features like the “what” and “where”. You can enter them and then, the Virtual Earth will automatically take you to the location of your choice. It displays the search results in the form of floating windows that pop-up on the left side of the screen.
If you click on the results, it will provide you and information box on the map itself, which is currently in the opened condition. It also features a tool called, “scratch pad”. In the ‘scratch pad’, you can put the names addresses and the information of the location that you would be requiring in the future. You can prepare a list of these names and then, it would be useful to you in the future, for searching them. You can also view these later, or give them to others, via email.
The aerial photographs that the Virtual Earth provides feature the names and the labels of the locations of the places. They also have the important landmarks of the places. You can also get data for the traffic directions for the one-way streets. This can be very useful for you when, you are looking for a better route for a location where you wish to go.
It also includes a “permalink” feature. This will save the cached images of the images, which you have opened by the use of the Virtual Earth. This will save the images of the location’s views, the search results, and the scratch pad. It provides a URL for the restoring the things, which the images contain. However, you cannot use it as an intuitive method for saving your data. You should bookmark, email, or copy it in a clipboard and then, after that you can save it in some other programs.
This has a very useful feature, the ‘locate me’ feature. This feature will provide to you the exact geographical location of the computer, which you are using. When you click on the “use IP address” it will target your view to your ISPs location.
