The Virtual Earth 3D operating conditions 3
Important things to remember
If your computer does not have enough video memory, the Virtual Earth 3D beta may report that the hardware acceleration is off. Further, note that if you try to run the Virtual Earth 3D on more than one browser, your computer may run out of video memory. This can even happen when your computer has a memory card having lesser capacity than the recommended by Virtual Earth.
If you install new Beta drivers for the display adapter, you should confirm whether they would support the Direct3D and DirectDraw acceleration. Generally, it happens that the beta drivers do not support the 3D acceleration. Therefore, you should confirm from the manufacturer whether that display driver supports the 3D acceleration or not.
In addition, the domain policies disable some of the options. This is the case when you try to log on to a domain environment. Therefore, if you find any problem in doing the above-mentioned steps, the local administrator may help you.
The problem may continue even if you have followed all the above-mentioned steps correctly. If this happens, you can try the following. This is also tried when the Virtual Earth 3D does not start after clicking on it from the view controls.
This may have happened because your browser may not be configured to use the Microsoft ActiveX controls.
For this, you need to add the live Search Maps to the list of the trusted sites zone and then enable the ActiveX this zone.
The procedure is as follows.
a)If you are using the Internet Explorer, choose Internet Options from the “Tools” menu.
b)Then from the Security tab choose the “Trusted sites” and from there click on “Sites”.
c)Then go to the box for adding the websites to the zone. In this, enter the website for the Live Search Maps.
d)Here, it is important that the check box saying require server verification for all the sites in the zone is not selected. After you confirm this, you can click “OK”.
e)Then click “Trusted sites” and then go to the Custom Level.
f)After this go to the ActiveX controls and plug-ins. In this section, you would find the options to Enable or Prompt.
You will find the options for downloading signed ActiveX controls, running ActiveX controls and the plug-ins and the script ActiveX controls which are safe for using for scripting.
You can choose the desired one and after this click “OK”.
g)Then again, after this click “Yes” and followed by “OK”.
This was the procedure for activating the ActiveX controls for the Internet Explorer. However, the procedure would be different for the dif types of internet browsers. Therefore, you should check with the help menu of the browser that your computer has.
These are the simple things that you can try if you face problems while running the Virtual Earth 3D on your computer. They are so simple that you can do them yourself.
