Viewable area of the maps from the Virtual Earth 3D

You may need the maps for different purposes like studying the geographical features of the regions or for knowing about the roads and political extension and feature of the regions. Therefore, accordingly you can choose whether to use the road map or the aerial and bird’s eye views or the combination map.

Procedure of selecting the view

a) When you are viewing the maps using the Virtual Earth 3D then on the screen itself you will see the control options. In these options in the upper right hand side of the page, you will see the controls for selecting the views. There are separate icons for all the views. When you click on these options, the Virtual Earth will display the map view according to your selection.

b) Therefore, click on the Road option for viewing the street map. This map features the street highways cities boundaries and some more relevant features.

c) Click on the Aerial will display the maps, which are the photos from above that place. These maps would provide the structures and the geographical feature of the places.

d) Click on the Hybrid will display the maps that contain the combination of the aerial as well as the road maps.

e) A click on the Bird’s eye view will display images i.e. the maps that have a very low angle and a high resolution than the aerial view. If you use the 3D mode then the Birds eye view can provide images of the road, aerial and hybrid views.

Remember the following things for the views

a) For switching on the 2 dimensional mode you can activate it by just click 2 from the keyboard. Similarly, for viewing the 3D mode you should just click on the 3 button on the keyboard.

b) The Birds ye views are available in the major metro cities only. Therefore, you should check for this whether they are available for your city or not.

c) In addition to the options on the images on the screen, you can also use the following short cut keys for altering the views of the maps.

Clicking R will change the view to the Road view

Clicking A will change the view to the Aerial view.

Clicking H will change the view to the Hybrid view.

Clicking B will change the view to the Bird’s eye view.

Thus, the changing of the view is so simple and convenient that you should always change and use the correct views for viewing the things of your interest.

Changing the viewable area of the maps on the screen

In addition to the views, you can also change area that the maps cover. The different additional features panels like, the panel containing the welcome note, collections of the editors, or the view controls for altering the views, and browsing through the map, etc. These features appear on the map itself. Thus, they hide at least some of the portion of the maps.

You can select whether or not to show them. Hiding them would provide you the ability for viewing the complete view that the Virtual Earth can offer. However, in this case the above-mentioned options will not appear on the screen. Even then, you will not have many problems as you can also use the shortcut keys from the keyboard.
