Virtual Earth Live Search Maps FAQ

How do I print maps and other information?

Users can print the map, contents of their collection's editor, search results, notes as well as other information that they find on Live Search Maps. Moreover, users can also print driving directions from these maps. For printing maps and other information, go to Live Search Maps. Then find the location on the map that you are looking for. For more information on this topic, users can see Search for people, business, locations, collections or Get driving directions.

Once you have found the location on the map, click Print above the upper right corner of the map, on the toolbar. However, the available print options may change depending on the information that is displayed currently. For this, you can do one of the following things. If you want to print search results, click onto the Map and Text, Text only, or Map only, and after that click Print. If you are printing only a map, click Print. You can also select the print options that you require and then click Print. Users, who are familiar with the first or last few steps of a set of driving directions, can lessen the quantity of pages that they print by hiding the first or last steps. Users can also view the Abbreviate driving directions for more information regarding print maps and other information.

Abbreviate driving directions

When users find driving directions, it will contain how to reach a major highway, or how to drive from a major highway to their direction. This information will be provided in the first and last steps that can be hidden in order to create a smaller set of directions. If users are already familiar with the first and last steps, hiding them can make the overall directions simpler to follow. Moreover, when users abbreviate directions, very few pages will be required for printing.

For this, a complete set of directions can contain three steps to guide users from their start point to Highway 184. If the starting point is user's home and he or she already knows how to reach the highway, then a user can include those three steps in a single step like Go to Highway 184. However, users should make sure that they cannot hide start details and end details in this context.

I highly recommend the Google Software Pack. It comes with a lot of great software that is all FREE. You can also pick and choose which of the software products you want to download. You don't have to download them all. If you have a Mac or you don't want the Google Software Pack for some reason you can download it directly from the main site.
