Essential tools for NASA world wind
In this article we are going to discuss the tools from World Wind. Firstly, let us understand what are these tools made in the world wind. These are stand-alone programs to utilize with World Wind. There are three articles in this category. They are as follows: Level Creator, Tiles Download and T Proxy.
We will consider them one by one. Firstly, let us discuss about level creator first.
Level creator: This soft ware was created by Getu . As the name suggest it is concerned with level World Wind applications like maps, screen saver and similar applications. If you want to add a new layer to the existing layers to a layer then this application is useful. Note that it is applicable only to create new lower levels for existing layers of World Wind. This feature is applicable only for layers, which have only a few levels for World Wind layers. Another condition is that the layers should be such that they will zoom very close. Let us take for example One Earth. Features of Level Creator are as follows :
It is an effective tool to add new layers to a layer. Applicable only for few levels where you have to zoom very close to a layer he example is given above. The another feature of Tools of is as follows :
Tiles Download: This feature is developed by Getu . The name of the feature is tiles down load. The name itself suggests that it is a tool used to down load tiles for World Wind. This is done for the offline viewing of the tiles or even copy tiles to or from the cache. To distinguish between different type of data it uses configuration files for different data sets for example files like Landsat, USGS, SRTM, One Earth, Moon and other files concerned with it.
TProxy: This software is also developed by Getu. This tool is a Proxy or even an image Server for World Wind 1.3. The list of proxy severs can be used are as follows: As a simple web/file/proxy server, to run World Wind to get images from another PC (Cache or internet). For the purpose of modifying and downloading images present in World Wind.
Now we are going to see the features of TPROXY. They are as follows: Firstly TPROXY comes in two types without World Wind and other is with World Wind. Let us see it one by one as follows:
Without World Wind: This application as name suggest can run Without World Wind. To download TPROXY copy its files from root directory for example ‘Web-test’ files or other test files to the root server directory. The address for it is (default:`c:\temp`). After doing all this procedure now you can start TProxy on your Server PC. Then run browser on your Client PC and go to the following address ‘http:// server-ip/’or ‘http:// sever-ip/test.jpg’. This is about the installation of Tproxy as a web/file severs.
TProxy as a proxy sever: To load TProxy as a server on your PC and browser on your Client PC note where you don’t have internet access but a network connection to your PC or you have to change ‘Internet Options’ in ‘System Properties’ (Connection/ LAN settings/Proxy sever’ ‘use proxy sever’ address: Server-IP and Port: 1080 or other).
