Issues related to downloading tiles and imagery

Check the server status page to ensure that there are no server side problems.Issues related to downloading tiles and imagery:Issues related to downloading tiles and imagery:

What is the use of download Monitor?

NASA World Wind contains a download monitor 1.3, which is very useful to diagnose problems.

Why the monitor screen is showing the message ' Problems connecting to server. Try again in 2 minutes?

There are several possible reasons:

1] The server may be down. You can try after some time.

2] There is a high probability that you are behind a blocking firewall/proxy. In that case, you can either go for configuring a part of remapper or look for out an admin.

3] Other possibility is that you may be in a country that does not allow to access world wind sites and its servers. Try to look for a proxy.

4] By holding down control and then hitting H, you will be able to use HTTP Download Monitor. Double click on an entry and you will get a box. The contents of the box should be pasted into a forum thread that is in technical support section and someone will definitely help you.

Is there any way for setting a proxy?

You will have to press Alt+Q for editing the proxy settings.

Why are wrong image tiles appearing?

There is a high probability that you are seeing more than 1 layer and therefore you are not capable to see the tile you expect. Select the 'layer manager' and ensure that you have checked only 1 image layer box.

If you believe that the tile is still containing bad data then you should hit f5 for refreshing the current view. Due to this action, all visible tiles will get redownloaded for all the active layers. Alternately, you can follow the instruction set for “How are tiles named?

” for deleting individual tile. If you are finding a “bad” tile and are downloading the “bad “ tile then record the file name of tile and then let someone know on the forums and in Chat room.

How are tiles named?

Tile naming is based on layer name, latitude, and longitude. Tile name information can be viewed from within NASA World Wind. For viewing outlines and tile filenames open 'Layer Manager’, right click on the image note that is at the bottom level, and then select 'properties'. In resulting wind, you need to change the value of RenderTileFileNames property to true. You will be able to view text and red outline for each tile. Be aware that outlines and text are shown at a different height. For best results, you need to set vertical Exaggeration to 0 and ensure that you are seeing centre of outline.

Can I use NASA World wind for non-US locations?

(USGS) The United States Geological survey provides high-resolution data only for United States. However, Landsat data is now globally available. The Landsat imagery provides less resolution than USGS Ortho imagery. If you still believe, that resolution is not as good as expected, select 'samples images' in Landsat. You can then compare your results.

I highly recommend the Google Software Pack. It comes with a lot of great software that is all FREE. You can also pick and choose which of the software products you want to download. You don't have to download them all. If you have a Mac or you don't want the Google Software Pack for some reason you can download it directly from the main site.
