NASA World Wind FAQ
Why some time the feature, “insert mountain or other relief feature” does not work properly?
There could be many reasons for this. This feature works well if the area that you are observing is above the 600 latitude with elevation. Another reason can be if the data taken is obtained from sonar equipments. Since these measurements are taken from 90 meters, hills and mountains might looks strange in this mode. While you observe a city and if that city has hilly area then also you might get disturbed images even if the feature is on. This is due to the imagery problem as mentioned above. Not only hilly this same problem might occur with the skyscrapers also.
Why NASA world wind sometime uses all the CPU memory?
The main thing is that current version of NASA world wind is not designed to show high resolution near earth images. The team is aware of this problem and is working consistently to solve this problem. However, future releases of NASA world wind might not face such problem, and you can enjoy smooth ride over the world.
