NASA World Wind: features 2
MODIS
MODIS stands for Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectromradiometer. It is provides a set of data of events as floods, fires, dust, smoke, storms, volcanic activity. Thus, the user can know about what is happening on the globe. This data is provided by MODIS is time relevant i.e. these events are current ones. This data is updated by MODIS everyday. This data is also obtained from the other sources. However, the advantage of NASA World Wind is that it displays them directly on the virtual globe. It uses simple, easily understandable icons for this purpose. Thus the user can study exactly where these events have occurred.
Moreover, the user can obtain the complete real images of that event by clicking on these icons. The images are of publication quality and their resolution is about, 250m per pixel. There are a number of images for each event and besides MODIS also updates them everyday. So on the next day the user can get new, fresh images.
The user can browse through the image manually or he can use the “tour mode” which allows him to skim through the set.
Globe

Users can such data not only for the current day but also for the previous days.
Political borders
The users can view the images along with the political borders as well. For the United States, it provides the state borders as well however for the rest of the world only the international borders are displayed at this moment.
