NASA World Wind introduction 4

The NASA World Wind has more features than any other similar product. Therefore, there is a long list of technical specifications for the NASA World Wind.

The datasets for the earth

Landsat imagery: this is the imagery, which has been taken from the satellite named Landsat. It includes the given bellow features.

a) NLT Landsat; it enables Visible and Pseudo Colors.

b) Geocover 1990 & 2000; it is a pseudo layer of images taken from the Landsat 4 & 5.

c)OnEarth; these are the visible and pseudo images.

d)i-cubed; they are the visible images.

USGS imagery: it contains the following features.

a)Digital Ortho: they are the aerial images that are DOQ - scanned black and white.

b)Urban Area Ortho: they are the montaged and colorful aerial photography for the major US metropolitan cities.

Topographic maps: they include the following features.

a)Zoomit! Imagery: this is the imagery, which provides the users the views after they zoom in at any point. They are produced by the Community of the NASA World Wind.

b)LINZ[3]: they are the montaged and colorful aerial imagery of the whole New Zealand.

c)GSWA[4]: they are the topographic and geologic images of Western Australia.

d)US imagery: they are the montaged and colorful aerial imagery of most fo the major US metropolitan cities.

e)SRTM terrain data i.e. the SRTM30Plus[5]/SRTMv2/USGS NED: this includes the bathymetric imagery of the

The technical specifications of the NASA World Wind

a) it offers the Baseline resolutions as 500m and 15m. The 500-meter resolution is the Blue Marble Next Generation and the 15-meter images are the Landsat imagery. Note that, the 15 meters imagery is not available for the polar areas.

b) Typical high resolutions: they are offered for the US, New Zealand, Western Australia and South Africa.

In the US, it offers very high imageries than the other countries. The imageries are as given under.

a)USGS Digital Ortho: they are 1-meter resolution images and are grayscale near the full coverage.

b)USGS Urban Area Ortho: they are the images featuring the resolution of 0.25 meters.

c)Zoomit! They are the images up to the resolution of 0.15m to 1m.
