New ‘Mercury’ add-on in World wind

Hey! There is good news for all the people who are interested in exploring different planets of the solar system. NASA World Wind program has added new Mercury add-on. This will help you to explore the unknown facts about Mercury planet.

NASA World Wind program has several astonishing features, which make it awesome. Apart from this, it includes several worlds, which can be explored. Some of you may think that it will be a tedious job to accomplish this task. However, wait. It is not the fact.

What you require is to download world wind program online. Then you can explore any world by just couple of clicks on the desired planet icon on your world wind desktop. In another way, you can select the desired planet from file menu. You can virtually visit Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Moon and now Mercury add-on.

Mercury is the smallest and innermost planet in the solar system. It completes its revolution around the sun in 88 days. It is very amazing to know that it has highest eccentricity amongst all planets of the solar system. Furthermore, it has the smallest axial incline.

It is brightly distinguished when observed from our mother planet. Planet mercury’s maximum angular separation from the Sun is around 28.3%. It may be observed in evening or morning twilight.

As compared to other planets, much less information is available about this planet. However, NASA World Wind program has brought a great chance to explore more about Mercury planet. It has helped us to unfold many unknown facts about this planet. Mercury planet has same appearance as that of the Moon. It is greatly surrounded by regions of smooth plains. It has no significant atmosphere. Contrasting to the moon, it has a remarkable iron core. This large iron core creates a potent magnetic field. This magnetic field is 1% as powerful as that of our planet earth. Due to its considerably large size of its core, Mercury is remarkably a solid planet. It is more interesting to know that the bottoms of the craters are the coldest and sub solar points are hottest.

The Mercury add-on for NASA World Wind program renders the details of all the images about the planet Mercury. However, right now, a map for only half of the planet is available. Furthermore, its layer incorporates the titles and places of all classified features. Mercury is one of the four terrestrial planets in our solar system. Being a rocky or dense body like earth, it is the smallest planet amongst all other planets. It has an equatorial radius of around 2439.7 Kilo Meter. Though smaller, the planet Mercury is more massive than the biggest natural satellites of the sun in our solar system. However, this temperature has variance in range from 100k to 700 k owing to the absence of the atmosphere on the Mercury planet. In spite of extreme high temperature on the planet, there are strong evidences of existence of ice on this planet.

Planet Mercury has several unknown yet interesting facts. Thanks to NASA World Wind program, this has provided us with a fabulous opportunity to know more about this planet. It can prove to be a blessing for scientists, researchers, students and astronomy lovers.
