Place Name Maker:
With the help of this application one can easily add and edit place names for World Wind. But it has one fault it works only in world wind which is 1.3.2 or higher than the mentioned above.
Installation: For installation, the users have to follow the following procedure. First download the placemaker.zip and then unzip it into your World Wind directory. The code for writing and reading the place name files is taken from the World Wind source only. Precaution to be followed is as follows Place finder and Place name maker should never be used at the same time in World Wind. If the users will change the Place name file the Place finder will be stopped it can’t be used anymore. Plus it can’t be closed also. Don’t think that World Wind will be affected and after a quick reload of World Wind the Place finder will work correctly.
To install plug-in World Wind follow the procedure given below :
Open the Plug-ins menu and click Load/Unload window and then press the load button the indicator next to ‘Place Name Maker’ should turn green this indicates that it is safe to close Plug-in Load/Unload window. Afterwards select the tools menu and see the item Place Name Maker. You are now in Edit tab. Now you can easily add place names to Place name below. A table where all the place names including the coordinates and information about the place will be shown on the screen for the users You can edit existing place name files but at your own risk. Normally there is a provision in World Wind that normally a corrupt file does not affect other files mostly.
Add a place name simple: Go to places where you want to add a place name load it in the load maker in the form of Place Name Maker or press the button “Insert the current coordinates” to get current coordinates and insert the Place file name and input data about the place you want.
Planetary Rings: The latest Plug-in developed by NASA World Wind itself. As the name suggest it consists of planetary rings of Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus. So it is a very useful application.
Installation: To install this wonderful application first download Planetary Rings for World Wind 1.4 or you can even use Planetary Rings 0.9 for World Wind1.3.x and extract the file to World Wind Plug-ins directory.
Change the Coordinates: The method to change the coordinates is different for different versions. Let us take an example of larger version of vertical scroll bar. There is a scrollbar available for red background for latitude and green background available for Longitude change. In other version you can change the altitude simply input the Latitude, the North, South buttons for Latitude change and input the Longitudinal or press the West, East buttons for longitudinal change. A click on World map can also change the coordinates.
Known Problems: Concerning the Small and Tiny version you will get an error message “Input strings are not in the correct format”. As mentioned above there is a problem between Tilt and Altitude. For trouble shooting use the procedure mentioned above. But this creates other problems since the change of parameters is not correct exception of the altitude button.
