Problems after installing NASA World Wind
Why are wrong image tiles being displayed on the screen?
Seeing more than one layer may cause problems in seeing the correct image tiles. Therefore you need to make sure that you have chosen only one layer. For this again go the Layer Manager and see whether you have checked only one image layer box. However if you think that the tile does not contain good enough data, you can refresh the current page by clicking F5. On doing this NASA World Wind will reload all visible tiles for all active layers. On the other hand you can also delete a individual tile.
If you are able to find a “bad” tile and you could keep downloading that “bad” tile, you can try to record the filename and information of the tile and let know somebody through Chat or Forums.
What is the procedure for naming the tiles?
The structure for naming the tile depends on its name, longitude, latitude, and level. If you are using World Wind 1.3.3, you will be able to view the tile name and information, right from World Wind itself.
If you want to view tile outlines and filenames, open the Layer Manager and then right-click on any image node at the bottom level and choose Properties. The bottom level image node is item not having an arrow. Then you need to change the RenderTileFileNames property value to True. This you can do so from the resulting window you get after you select properties. After doing so you will gt red outline and text for each of the tiles.
Note that, the height of rendering outlines and text, both are different with respect to the terrain. If you want to get the best results set the Vertical Exaggeration to 0. Also check whether you are viewing the center of outline.
Issues related to imagery
zooming in is blurring the images?
You should first check whether the resolution you are trying to view is available for the region on the screen. The USGS Urban Area Imagery is available only for the united states. For the other areas only the Landsat data is available. The USGS has a resolution of 0.25m/pixel while the Landsat data is at a much lesser resolution.
Therefore if you are try to zoom in beyond the resolution of Landsat images for areas outside US the images are bound to be blurry.
Why am I not able to zoom in to view may house in the united states?
The resolution of 0.25m/pixel is available only for select cities in the United States. Therefore you can check whether this resolution is available for your city or not. If it is not, you wont be able to view such images, however note that the 1m/ pixel resolution is available for most of the United States. Even these images are good enough to see houses, trees, etc.The LandSat images for a region outside United States is not as good as it should have been?
If you think so, you can view the sample images and compare with them, the images you are getting. If there is some difference between them then the problem may be related to downloading tiles.
