Problems after installing NASA World Wind
Even after a successful install some problems can occur. However most of them are just minor ones and can be solved easily. Some of the problems are discussed below.
NASA World Wind is showing a dialog box saying World Wind Fatal Error.
In such a condition when NASA World Wind loads attempt to change the display settings to either 16 or 32 bit color. Most of the users have reported that the 24 and 32 bit setting is related to the issue and the problem does not occur if the display is set at 16 bit.
Video card is not functioning. NASA World Wind shows an error saying “Unable to create the Direct3D m_ Device3D”.
In such cases you should check out the Video Card Compatibility list. In case the compatibility of your video card is not listed, you should edit the list whether your video card is compatible or not.
If your video card is already listed in the compatible ones, make sure that the video card drives are the most recent ones. Moreover further ensure that Managed DirectX is installed.
If there is no problem with this try to run ‘dxdiag’ from Start > Run. Doing this will load the diagnosis program for DirectX. Moreover from below the display check whether everything is enabled and working.
When tried to run NASA World Wind crashes, displaying an error message saying, “JIT debugger”.
This problem is a serious one is difficult to resolve. If you try to debug the process ID and thread ID are not of any use. Instead the error codes which you may receive can be helpful. Do not mind if you do not find any debugger.
One of the things that you can do in this situation is start World Wind application right from the command line, and then you can readdress standard error to a file. The full text of the .NET exception and stack trace that is helpful in finding the reason for this problem will appear in the file.
Also note that there are reports that installing the above mentioned software solved the problem. Installing a new DirectX Runtime, also, can be useful.
The computer itself hangs or crashes.
The problems with drivers or hardware are commonly responsible for this. In such a situation check the stability of your computer when it runs 3D graphics. This you can do by trying to run the 3DMark or DirectX benchmarking software.
Error x135
This error occurs when you try to run a .NET application and your computer does not have it installed, or if it is installed it is a corrupt one. If it is not installed on your computer install it, or if it is already installed remove i.e. uninstall and then again reinstall it.
Cordbg.exe !a 0x5b4 code
This again is a problem linked with .NET. The older versions of .NET are not compatible with NASA World Wind. Therefore in this case as well you will need to uninstall the previous version and then again reinstall new .NET.
