Altering the appearance of, and the views available, for the 3D maps
Changing the appearance: It is would be very useful and convenient if you could alter the appearance of the maps and set them to show the appearance as per your desire. You can do so with the Virtual Earth 3D Beta.
For this, you have to download the virtual earth 3D version. Once you install this, you get the ability to control the appearance of the maps. This is useful when you want to view the maps to a greater or lesser resolution. This you can use for your convenience or also for some useful purposes like reducing, the resolution reduces the time for downloading the maps or the data.
The virtual earth also provides sometimes the images, which the computer of the Virtual Earth generates, if the real images are not available. You can choose whether to show these images or not.
The controls and procedure for this is as simple as given bellow.
a) Open the website of the live search maps. b) then go to the navigation controls, and from there choose the 3D option. c) Then click the options button that is present in the upper right hand side of the live search maps web page. d) Then select the settings as per your desire. For this, the option is present in the Detail settings in the Performance settings tab. e) In the Detail settings checking or un-checking the check box will either show or hide the views of the buildings accordingly.
f) Then you should select a disk cache size, which does not exceed the capacity or the free space of your hard disk. Also, remember that the value that you select should always be a positive number. The options and buttons for this are available in the “Maximum disk cache size in megabytes box”. g) This completes the procedure and therefore after this click “OK” twice.
Remember: Some networks require the proxy server for viewing the 3D maps. Therefore, it is important that you should mention the proxy settings. For this, you should click the Network settings tab from the 3D view settings. The default proxy settings for the Virtual Earth 3D Beta is the Windows Internet Explorer.
Views available for the Virtual Earth 3D: The Virtual Earth 3D version provides the facility of three types of views. These are the “aerial view”, the “road views” the combination view or the bird’s eye view. You can use any of these views whichever would serve your purpose the best.
The road view would provide you the exact name of the roads and the places and therefore they are useful for knowing the location. The aerial and the bird’s eye view show the geographical details of the places. These geographical details show us the regions geographical features like the altitudes of the places which are in that region whether the regions is covered with green cover of forest fields etc or not. In addition, the last one is the hybrid one. This is a combination of the road and the aerial views. Therefore, you can view the places with their geographical features along with the names of the road and the regions.
