Browse the extensive geographical data with Earth Explorer
Earth Explorer is wonderful program allows user to browse the surface of earth with fantastic images and widespread geographical information. It is interactive 3-Dimensional digital world map application. Earth Explorer program consists of the world information like cities, countries, islands, rivers and political boundaries.
with the help of this program, users are able to insert place marks as well path onto the map. Users can even import whole user-defined information list for the map. Earth Explorer version 5.0 has very interesting features like satellite/SRTM/merge 3 view modes and it raises the speed of map download.
This program is made to run on the operating systems like Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows ME, Windows 98, and Windows NT. ESA announced the launching of Earth Explorer mission tender within its living planet programmed. It is the part of choice process, which will lead towards the launching of fourth Earth Explorer Core mission. The six missions cover a wide variety of environmental subjects with the plan of furthering our perceptive of the earth system as well as changing climate.
These six missions include BIOMASS, TRAQ, PREMIER, FLEX, A-SCOPE, and CoReH2O. The selection process of the six missions follows the launching of the call to Earth Explorer Core mission idea in month March 2005. Earth Explorer Core missions categorized into ESA-led research missions. The very first earth explorer’s core missions were chosen in year 1999.
the third core mission was chosen in year 2004 and will be inaugurated in year 2012. The fourth core missions called SMOS developed for soil moisture and fifth mission called CryoSat-2 developed to study the ice sheets as well as sea ice, swarm that is a constellation of little satellites for studying the dynamics of our beautiful Earth’s magnetic field as well as its communications with effective earth system .
now we will discuss about these missions in detail. First, we will discuss the aims of BIOMASS mission. This mission aims at worldwide dimensions of forest biomass. The technique is fully based on the dimension of cross-polar backscattering coefficient where forest biomass is retrieved directly. The utilization of multi-polarization measurements as well as of interferometry is even proposed for enhancing the estimates.
TRAQ mission monitors air quality as well as wide-range transport of air pollutants. New synergistic sensor concept permits for process studies specifically with admiration to aerosol-cloud communications. The purpose of FLEX mission is worldwide distant sensing of photosynthesis via the dimension of fluorescence. Recently no direct dimensions are available from his partner’s satellites. The major specification is for the purpose of instruments for measuring elevated spectral resolution reflectance as well as temperature and to offer a multi-angular ability.
The main aim of A-SCOPE mission is to examine complete column carbon dioxide along with a nadir-looking DIAL to get best understanding of worldwide carbon cycle as well as regional carbon dioxide. It also used for corroboration of greenhouse gas emission records. All these missions aim at doing something great and therefore much attention is given to development of these missions.
