Know more about Servir-viz
The meaning of servir is “something to serve”. Servir is a high-technology visualization system that monitors environment of countries. It helps to combat many catastrophic events such as wildfires, floods, earthquakes etc; it helps to improve land in use and agriculture particles; additionally it also improves weather forecasting and weather monitoring.
Servir-viz, helps in many research based projects, it helps to bring different people from different backgrounds to improve very complex issues and providing life saving solutions for decision makers.
Servir displays resources of earth on real-time maps thus; it helps to integrate wide variety of data from various sources. Weathermen can pick any location where rain will fall, where flooding will occur, forest-fires etc, so servir-viz helps to improve weather prediction and helps to save life of millions of people.
Servir-viz has been collaborated with many live projects such as global earth observation system of systems (GEOSS) which was developed by European commission and support over 70 countries.
The purpose of GEOSS is to increase co-operation among many countries for earth observation and imagery data for the benefit of all, additionally many international organizations are dedicated for GEOSS program.
The GEOSS team includes administrators, scientists and technologists; they are dedicated for implement servir’s GEOSS research program. They are responsible for gathering, processing satellite imagery data and they collaborate with ground data for further analysis.
The GEOSS team then view and analysis servir data for further analysis and supporting, these observations are necessary for national environmental and disaster response programs. The GEOSS project involves several levels of countries institutes and scientific communities for supporting and coordinating servir projects.
The aim of GEOSS is to meet geographic expansion and achieves life saving flexibility and adaptability, these functionalities are necessary to meet new geographic challenges such as weather prediction and co-coordinating with technologies etc.
The GEOSS project has been deployed in many countries and most countries have brought together radar imagery and other satellite imagery to help government’s response to extensive flooding, earthquakes and other catastrophic events.
Additionally servir-viz supports a suite for earth-observation based services; these services have been developed under the framework of global monitoring for environment and security guidelines. Global monitoring and security guidelines services are also called EOS guidelines, which are useful to address deficiencies for satellite information gathering. It collaborate satellite imagery providers, users together to make an bring an independent community to give accurate and precise satellite data and imagery. Accurate measurement of satellite data and imagery is necessary to carry out environment and security policies.
Servir-viz is also involved to improve coordinating functions of ground based monitoring systems; it helps users to optimize the use of current observation systems.
The Servir-viz based projects provide several ground based projects to address problems such as wildfires, floods, earthquakes etc. These products are used to bring together locations, reasons and potential of catastrophic events. The two products of servir (GEOSS and MODIS) are helpful in disaster management and land management functionality.
Another product of servir called web fire, which has been developed by NASA, and CATHALAC is an online and interactive disaster response system, through web-fire, it is easy to locate fire in particular region. The web- fire has a link below to view latest fires and user can subscribe its services via E-mail.
The live image by servir maps provides many features such as location finder through you can locate and find any location on the earth. However, this functionality is a live and can work only if you have high-speed internet connection.
