NASA world wind: see the world in a click
The worlds which are included in World Wind are very diverse and very prominent. All the planets are included in it. Satellite like Moon is also considered here. The information of all these Worlds is included. Individual information of the planets and the other celestial bodies are considered here. Let us consider these Worlds one by one:
First let us consider the World of Moon: Moon Earth’s moon is considered here. Yes, Earth’s moon is considered here. Earth’s Moon is viewable from Within World Wind. The version which is compatible with moon World is 1.3.3 or above.
The features of this World are as follows:
Moon tutorial: This is a tutorial type of application. It means that this application tells you how to view Moon in World Wind application more efficiently. So it is a guide for the users with respect to viewing. This will definitely help the users to observe and view Moon.
How to view the Moon: You can view the moon in many ways. You are able to view the moon by either double clicking the option ‘World Wind Moon 1.3’ desktop icon. Go to programs World Wind Moon 1.3 or even after you start World Wind by switching to Moon from the file menu.
Moon layers: This option enables the users to view different layers of Moon by clicking on the different moon layers which are available in this application. The different layers are present in the different icons, which are present in the World Wind toolbars. The layers are as follows:
Clementine Layer: This layer as the name suggests is related to the image of Moon which was taken during the Clementine mission.
The second layer which is present in Moon World is:
Greyscale: This is a imagery which is obtained from the sole spectral band of the Clementine mission. So it is a one color image of the imagery which was obtained form the Clementine mission.
Now let us consider the Shaded Elevation Map: This imagery is created from the data which was obtained from USGS. The color of the map displays and personifies the elevation of the map. The main index or the main tool for showing elevation is through the agency of color. The key for the color scheme is red is shown where the highest points are present. The lowest points similarly are displayed in Violet. Other colors are revealed in downward order. The order of the colors is in the order red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue and purple respectively. You can find more information about this imagery.
Moon Add-ons: These are the Add-ons of Moon which are present in World Wind. The Add-ons which are considered are as follows:
Lunar Landmarks: This Add-on displays the locations and the places which are related with the landmarks which are located on the Moon. If you click the icons which can be clicked then you can see the related Web pages. These web pages are provided by NASA Goddard Space flight center. This address is present in your web browser.
