SERVIR‘s Data products

SERVIR provides the first set of 3-Dimensional posters (which is also called anaglyph posters) of the many countries which are developed from NASA's Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (which is also called SRTM). In order to see these images in 3-Dimensional, all you need special a pair of red and blue anaglyph glasses. The Screen views and full-size anaglyph images are in JPEG format. The screen views are NOT designed to be viewed in 3D and serve only as a reference. The full size images can be seen in 3D on a computer screen at full resolution, but they are ideally designed to be used on 36" x 48" paper.

Skyline Terra Explorer: Terra Explorer is a commercial product, which is developed by Skyline Software Corporation. However, the free version of Skyline is available, which allows individual PC users to interact in details with a 3D terrain file created with Skyline's Terra Builder product. The SERVIR project developed a 15 meter resolution Land sat mosaic of countries using these tools. With Skyline's Terra Explorer, users can freely connect to this mosaic and navigate over the high-resolution 3D region of Mesoamerica.

The Geo Integrator: The Geo Integrator is an open source, online product that is developed by SERVIR and IABIN to view and query through many participating institutes around the world. This is achieved through access to the participating institutions Web Map Services (WMS). Any researcher, organization or country with spatial data over the region can participate in the Geo Integrator by serving their data through a World map service and provide us the IP address.

MesoStor: MesoStor is a first, free on-line data delivery system. It allows anybody with an Internet connection to access digital map data of the regions (this includes satellite images, roads and river overages, etc.). MesoStor is a part of the SERVIR "One Stop Shop" for regional data, dynamic maps, decision support, and interactive visualizations. To use it you must download GeoSurf which is a Java-based Web application designed by the Center for Advanced Spatial Technologies. GeoSurf is composed of a client-side Java Applet, which runs on your machine, and many server-side Java Servlets and Applications, which run on the MesoStor servers. Once you have, GeoSurf installed on you computer, you can access MesoStor and fill out the registration information.

SERVIR Data Portal: The SERVIR’s Data Portal is an online data product and image search system. Its data portal contains metadata about all SERVIR data products. Users can search for data by entering keywords or by activating the Advanced Search page and entering a more detailed description of the desired geographical region and get information non area of interest. This Data Portal also contains a web map viewer that will display selected data sets online.

SERVIR Data: SERVIR’s data products are not located in one location because they are based on distributed database architecture. SERVIR uses participants, partners and contributors for all host data resources. However, through its website users can locate, and most cases display data from all data sources. In many cases, the data (for the example satellite imagery and Geographical information system layers) can be downloaded. The SERVIR Data section provides links to two applications its MesoStor and the SERVIR’s website.

I highly recommend the Google Software Pack. It comes with a lot of great software that is all FREE. You can also pick and choose which of the software products you want to download. You don't have to download them all. If you have a Mac or you don't want the Google Software Pack for some reason you can download it directly from the main site.
