Servir Viz and IAGT
The Servir project is struggling to enlarge the use of Earth science observations as well as perspective modeling capabilities to manage the major sources Mesoamerica and distribute this useful information towards decision makers. Servir intensively makes use of satellite imagery as well as some other data sources for the purpose of environmental management and monitoring natural disaster. Servir gets support from different sources like NASA, The World Bank, USAID, and The University of Alabama from Huntsville, The environmental Ministries of the Mesoamerican Countries and IAGT.
The main role of IAGT in Servir Viz is to present enhanced mapping and three dimensional visualization capabilities. This improved capacity helps decision makers to have the superior understanding, address the dynamic environmental and ecological matters in Mesoamerica. IAGT has developed many of the three dimensional visualization applications and tools to serve a great variety of aims and end-users. On the basis of this experience, IAGT can speed up Servir Viz’s track development with the support of SERVIR Viz project and all its partners.
Servir Viz is a customized version of world wind, which is NASA’s free; web enabled, open source and 3-Dimensional exploration tool. With the help of Servir Viz, users are able to obtain a chance for viewing near actual-time satellite images, sharing, accessing remotely hosted maps, data layers as well as some other SERVIR products in a 3-Dimensional. This program can also expand SERVIR project infrastructure by giving access for GEOSS.
This GEOSS data is also overlaid on the top side of each other. By overlaying many datasets as well as altering layer transparency, information products can be used together to monitor multifaceted interactions. The example of this kind is the forecast of landslide events. It is achieved by overlaying accumulated as well as predicted precipitation data over different locations with greatly sloped terrain to identify areas with elevated probability for landslides. Local decision makers obtain timely information from such applications during critical events.
GEOSS data are organized according to the topic and contain themed areas like ocean, weather ecology, disaster, and climate. The main aim of GEOSS goes in the direction of achieving coordinated, sustained, and comprehensive observations of our beautiful earth system to improve and develop monitoring of the earth’s state and to maximize the understanding of processes of earth. GEOSS data, which is included in Servir Viz, is made animated and transparent.
Servir Viz can be used in combination with several add-ons as well as plug-ins available through websites of world wind support. All these add-ons and plug-ins expand the functionality of application and often created by open-source community of developers and users.
Internet-Served data of Servir Viz includes information that can be obtained by Servir partner countries. The partner countries always make data available for the public making use of web map Services, which is an open standard to publish GIS datasets. Servir Viz connects with these services and then displays these data overall on worldwide satellite and make available imagery in world wind natively. In additions to these features of Servir Viz, it can be toggled between English as well Spanish to support different users.
