What is an Earth Browser

Earth Browser is a real time 3-D model of the planet earth that is continuously updated by the global information. It makes a virtual representation of the earth including lots of information that is accurate in every form. You can rotate and magnify the globe easily to get a close up or a distant view of the earth form space.

The Earth Browser has many useful as well as interesting sets of data in its EarthBrowser tab in the control window. It has a number of grouping datasets like the Base datasets. These include all the real time information. Then there are also global weather forecasts and high resolution forecasts for the continental US. You can control the settings in different view options.

The General Display Settings are listed at the top. It includes: Grid that toggles the gratitude grid like the Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn, the Antarctic and the Arctic circles. You can toggle the city lights display and the day or night shadow with the City Lights and Day/ Night option. The Base Datasets covers the Weather, Doppler, Radar, Clouds, Volcanoes, Earthquakes, International Borders, Countries of the World, Webcams and the State Borders of the US. The US forecasts include Snowfall, Precipitation, Atmospheric Pressure, Temperature, Cloud Coverage, Relative Humidity, Wind Speed, and Wind Direction.

A very important and a useful web browser are embedded in the Earth Browser based on the Web kit engine. This allows an easy access to such a large amount of information on the World Wide Web. The browser window can be resized like the other windows in the Earth Browser from any of the corners and can also be dragged form the edges to adjust its size. The Earth Browser desktop application contains information of about twenty five thousand populated cities from the Geonames.org service.

There is a KML window that displays the contents of an individual KML dataset that ca be dropped or dragged in the Earth Browser window. It is a simple list tat appears like a dataset list. You can drop or drag the items from the KML window in to your personal data and store them. But, this is a temporary dataset and so once you close the window, all the contents will be removed from it.

Then there is a synchronized map window also referred as specialized browser window. This window enables the Earth Browser to interact with the Google Maps Service. You can add the other online sources in future. All these mapping sites contain a very high resolution dataset. The Earth Browser has 15 meter power pixel base map of the earth because of the current financial limitations. But, with the use of these different mapping services, you can easily go around sightseeing virtually and also pinpoint a particular location for your exact placemark.

You can seamlessly install and update the Earth Browser’s integrated web browser directly from the webpage that is based on Adobe AIR. And now view and create geographic information easily.

I highly recommend the Google Software Pack. It comes with a lot of great software that is all FREE. You can also pick and choose which of the software products you want to download. You don't have to download them all. If you have a Mac or you don't want the Google Software Pack for some reason you can download it directly from the main site.
